No, irregardless is NOT a word, dictionary.com.

Re: I am on a conference call...

Here I am to make sense of it all!!

According to dictionary.com:
—Usage note Irregardless is considered nonstandard because of the two negative elements ir- and -less. It was probably formed on the analogy of such words as irrespective, irrelevant, and irreparable. Those who use it, including on occasion educated speakers, may do so from a desire to add emphasis. Irregardless first appeared in the early 20th century and was perhaps popularized by its use in a comic radio program of the 1930s.

It also says:
Irregardless is a word that many mistakenly believe to be correct usage in formal style, when in fact it is used chiefly in nonstandard speech or casual writing. Coined in the United States in the early 20th century, it has met with a blizzard of condemnation for being an improper yoking of irrespective and regardless and for the logical absurdity of combining the negative ir- prefix and -less suffix in a single term. Although one might reasonably argue that it is no different from words with redundant affixes like debone and unravel, it has been considered a blunder for decades and will probably continue to be so.

Btw, MS Word doesn't recognize it as a word either.

It's like normalcy. Irregardless will become a 'real' word because too many people use it. Truman says normalcy in a sentence because he forgets that the word is normality and now normalcy is a word.

Will all of the Bushisms become words to just complete the cycle and make my eye sockets bleed?

(I feel very strongly about this, btw )

One of us should become president...

Then we can get all of our NWRisms into Webster's dictionary.

For now our Official Dicktionary will have to do.

OMG! ME TOO! It is one of my BIGGEST grammar pet peeves!!

I'm trying to hire a bookkeeper at my firm. I received an e-mail resume & cover letter & she used THAT word in it. I e-mailed her back: “Thank you for submitting your resume for consideration. At this time I am no longer accepting applications (LIE!! ) however I urge you to remove the word 'irregardless' from your resume.”

I shredded the resume because she used that word.

It's so much more accurate. Especially because we made up half of the words.

It is a republican plot to change the English dictionary and grammar rules to coincide with Bush's speech patterns.
