I'm having my invitations custom made - so that they match the placecards, menu cards, table numbers, etc - all done by the same company with the same custom design.
Unfortunately, she's been IMPOSSIBLE to work with, and every time i ask about deadlines and when to get my stuff, she cites her contract and says things take 6-8 weeks, blah blah blah.
Well here we stand 60 days before my wedding and I still don't have invitations. She said they won't be mailed from her until the 8th, which means i won't get them until the 12th or later. And i'm on VACATION that week. So i won't get them in the mail until the 19th!
I've been asking about overnight delivery options, etc and she keeps puting me off. I haven't seen proofs of anything except the invites - and I'm at the point where if i can find a company to overnight me invitations I'll go for it and lose the $$ I paid her.
HELP - do you know anywhere (not Michaels, we're not DIY people) where I can order invitations and basically get 24 hour turnaround? I HAVE to get invites out before I leave for vacation.

Costco online - it takes 5 business days to manufacture, and you can order next day airmail. (get them in 1 week).
Also www.theamericanwedding.com has a 3-4 turnaround too.

if you get it the 19th then that is fine, just send them out right away. I JUST received an invite for september 20th and other weddings in september just recently.
I sent out my invites beginning of april and my wedding was in may. I got my rsvps back so quickly bc of it too, instead of guests having 2-3 months to send back and forgetting about it they sent them out ASAP. WIthin the 2nd week i had over 200 rsvps. Even though many ppl getting married around the same time as me sent them out alot earlier, i had more rsvps back before them
it will be hard to get 24 hour turnaround, trust me i had this problem. See my invitation lady REALLY was delayed and wanted to send me my invites april 19th and my wedding was may 17th lol so i did end up making them myself since the quickest anyone else would take is a week, but first they have to make a proof send it to you then you have to approve it and THEN its a week, so i didnt want to take a chance.
Invites are supposed to normally go out 6-8 weeks from your wedding so youre ok, i think ppl get confused and think its 6-8 weeks before the rsvp date.
alot of places dont want to send overnight bc its expensive, ive had to send small packages overnight and it would cost me $50 just for something small and light. Maybe if you offer to pay or ask her to do 2 days

My RSVP date is Aug 31 - that will only give people 2 weeks to respond. Do you think that's ok?
And yes - I offered to pay in full for the overnight fees.
I got mine from toinvite.com and got them in 3 days without asking for quick delivery...that was just ground!

some people will send it back quciky and others will take their sweet time to send it back. you just have to call people who havent rsvp back to you.

This seems a little silly, but if you are worried about people making plans before they get the invitations, you can send out STD's. It's just a shame to spend 100 bucks on STD's just for 2 weeks, but that's probably what I would do if I was worried about people making plans.
You could also send an online evite/STD to those that have email accounts, explaining that an invitation will follow in 2 weeks.
I bought invitations at Staples...less than 15 dollars for 100 invites. This was for my eparty, though. I think it took maybe 30 minutes to set it up on the computer and then I just printed. Very easy! I know Kinkos does it, too, but you probably have to give them a sample of your invite.
GL! I'm sure everything will work out!

Is there any way you can ask her now to push the RSVP date back a week or 2? You would be ok with it a week later or so and give guests 3 weeks?

I know this is a big risk, but would you trust your wedding party to stuff envelopes while you are on vacation? That would set you ahead one week.

I would not worry about sending invites out two weeks before the RSVP date. Email your guests now and tell them the date, place and hotel information for reservations. Thay way, when they get the invitation, their calendars are already marked.
Your wedding and mine are one the same day. I JUST mailed my invites out last week and some people thought that was early.

Could you have her mail the invites to your mom or friend and have them stuff and send the invites while you're away?

Thanks ladies for all of your ideas!!! I think I'll just cross my fingers that -i will get the invites before i go on vacation - they will be correct and need no edits - i will get them out by the 19th and that will just have to be enough time
and IF none of that works, I'll order through costco for a super fast turnaround! (fingers crossed)
-ugh, like any bride needs this stress!

Re: I AM PANICKING - PLEASE HELP!
are we not allowed to say negative things about vendors? I was wondering why people FM'd the names/identifications of bad vendors instead of posting them here.
