I am second guessing my headpiece- Need some advise
Original post by thiadora
I am totally second guessing my head piece. I don't think that I like it anymore. I don't know what is wrong with me. I have been thinking this for a while, but I thought that I would change my mind. I think that it is too big, and I think that I don't want to wear one at all.
I went to my second and final fitting yesterday. I absolutely love my dress and my veil. My veil is lace edged with pearls sew on, chapel lenght, BEAUTIFUL. I could not be happier.
I don't have any pictures from yesterday, but maybe with these pictures you can help me.
The first 2 pictures are me with the sample dress and veil. (My veil=shorter, chapel lenght)
The last 2 pictures are my actual dress and the head piece.

This is how I am actually wearing my veil. As you see from the earlier pictures, the lace will be much thinner. But this is the general idea.
ok- so you are worried about the HP with the veil down, or back??

ok-- so the choices are:
1- HP and Veil as is.
2- Veil with no HP
3- Veil with thinner, more deluicate HP
How much of an investment did you make in the first one? Why don't you try on thinner hp's for piece of mind-- that is what I would do-- but, whatever you decide- it will be beautiul.. I see what you mean about the veil being simple- I like that look too. Try on some other things- so whatever decision you make- you feel confident.
I spent a bit of $$$ on the head piece. I think that if I don't wear it, I won't wear one at all. I'll just let the veil stand on its own.
I just hate that I spent the money on something that I wanted to be an heirloom and now I don't even like it.

But I still like the veil alone. There is something so elegant about it and in photos at FF with the wind blowing -- ahh, I can;t wait for your pics.

If that;s how you really feel- go with it.. I mean, why wear it if you are going to be unhappy. You already have it- so, you do not need to rush your decision.
I do have to say that if you do decide to take your veil off, that HP will really look special all alone.

I'm sorry. I know this is confusing. I think that it's because I am confused myself. My sister did take pictures yesterday, but I don't know what she actually got.
OK, I just pulled on some other pictures. Hopefully, you can see the head piece better now. (I might have to resize)

I see what you mean about it being pointy..
I like it better with the veil, as opposed to on it's own-- although, that can be the weird shadow you are getting in those pics.. hate it when that happens.
Just go try on some others and give yourself piece of mind- that is the only way you are going to feel better.

I know. I hate the weird shadows. It makes it look bigger.

If I had a dollar for everytime I was a 'psycho' during this wedding process (and I still have 6 months to go)... I'd be able to buy you 10 new headpieces.
Go look and other hp's.. make yourself feel better- and don't feel guilty!!

and thanks. It's amazing how crazy wedding planning can be. Sometimes seemingly simple decisions all of a sudden become a huge deal.

I know this all too well-- but, I am basically still in the sane period with brief interludes of irrational behavior.

And then it gets worse. I seem very calm from the outside. But on the inside, I feel like I am going to pop. Between the wedding and work there it just too much to get done.
And then, here I am with insomnia, on LIW (a/k/a NYW), when I really should be

i dont think your veil needs a headpiece and you will be fine without one if that is what you feel you need to do - i think you look fab in your gown the veil is more elegant than the tiara - but go with what your heart says

i personally like the veil without the headpiece idea...
BUT...
that's a long veil, so maybe at some point int he night you can take the veil off and put on the headpiece?
i'm no help lol

So you will do headpiece and veil. I actually LOVE the look of the veil alone -- so elegant. You look like a portrait of what a bride should look like.
I agree too! Your Veil is so beautiful and everyones attention is drawn to the lace , whcih it should be. I think if you have a headpiece also, it would take away from your veil.

May I just chime in again with the addition of the new photos how great you lo9ok witheeither option. My thought is take a day or two and don;t think about this at all then try them on again and see what your gut tells you.

Your veil is beautiful, let it take center stage and skip the headpiece!

I think it looks beautiful both ways! Take some time to think it over. The veil is gorgeous alone (without the headpiece) so maybe you can just use nice hair pins instead of the HP if you wanted to take the veil off.
