I decided to stop smoking as of today . i picked today cause yesterday i finished my pack and i was not going to throw out that pack(smokers you know they are expensive)
1- its really not good for you 2- dh hates it and he told me that he does not want anything to happen to me . or when we have kids that if godforbid something did happen that my kids would lose me to something i could have avoided .. and NUMBER 3 - the commercials with that guy who has throat cancer really scared the crap out of me .
i dont even like , i hate the smell i hate the cost of them now and i dont want that commerical to be me . i do it cause i am bored which is stupid but very true smokers will understand.
i am going to try very very hard to stick to this
girls who stopped was it hard? did you crave it ? please help me out here lol
some people tell me its a mental addiction and you get over that very fast

Re: I am smoke free as of today
i wish you the best of luck!! it takes a lot of wilpower but you will get through it.
just think of that horrible commerical w/ that man w/ the hole in his throat every time you think of smoking again - if it worked as a deterrent to make you want to stop - it should help remind you why you decided to.
hang in there and congrats on your new healthy decision!!

Congrats! It takes a lot of courage to stop. You should be very proud of yourself! When one of my co-workers stopped smoking a few months ago, she actually changed her 'smoking habits'. For example, she always drank coffee with her cigarettes so she switched to tea for a while and drank it at a different time of day. She also chewed a lot of gum. Good luck!!!!

Congrats! I am a former smoker too. I quit 5 years ago started again in Oct - April and quit again for good. Good luck you just have to have a lot of self discipline and will power that's how I am getting through it. I quit cold turkey.

Re: I am smoke free as of today
I am six months smoke free -
I smoked a pack a day for 20 years. ( am 40 yrs old)
Sometimes I miss it - however I do not miss being unable to breathe easily, the horrible cough and the heaviness in my chest.
You'll get through it ! Mind over matter.
And I hear ya about being bored and having the cigarette just to have it.
This is what I do when I miss is I take a deep breath it happens very easily now.
PS my FH whom I live with still smokes YUCK!!

Re: I am smoke free as of today
I am 2 & 1/2 years.
Your doing really well!!!
After 2 weeks it gets easier. You think about it less. And it feels great when someone asks you for a cigarette or a light and you can say. 'I don't smoke anymore'
Keep it up. It's worth it. It really is all will power. I still get cravings but it's nothing like they were in the beginning. Whenever you get a craving just grab that lolly or some gum (sugar free of course)and let it pass. They always pass!!!
