I am so excited

I have been very stressed at work lately. I have been a K-5 computer teacher for the last four years and for the last two years I have been wanting to go into a regular classroom. My principal never wanted to release me from the computer room because I started the lab from scratch four years ago and I used to be a corporate computer trainer. Well for the past two weeks I have been asking her for a classroom position and the only thing she would give me was a 4th grade class and there is no way I wanted that. I felt I should get a lower grade considering there were openings and I have building senority over a lot of people. Anyway to make a long story short, she kept making excuses to me and then finally after I had a long talk with the assistant principal, the principal called me into her office and said, 'you won'. I am going to teach 1st grade next year. I am so excited.

Just out of curiosity - do you think your principal has contempt for you, based on the comment, 'you won?' Or, was it said in a 'I'm-happy-to-tell-you-this-great-news' kind of way? Just wondering b/c I wouldn't want to see you get treated poorly next year b/c someone has a bug up their butt.

My principal is retiring this year so I do not think I have anything to worry about and my assistant principal who I am very close with was the one who told the principal now to give me whatever I want that I earned it.

I think it was more like I am happy to tell you the great news. She just did not want to lose me out of the lab because it is hard to replace someone in the lab who is experienced.

as much as I love the little guys...I did Kindergarden for 1/2 a year...and it was SO HARD!! but so rewarding!!!
