I am so PO'd!
MY 10 year reunion is the night of my wedding! My wedding ends at 5:30pm - and the reunion starts at 8pm. I don't care about myself, but I just feel like my bridesmaids will try to stay sober and 'save themselves' for the reunion. We've been talking about it for 10 years! Would you guys go to the reunion with your new husband after the wedding, or should I just blow it off. My FH will do whatever - but he did remind me that there will be other reunions (in another 10 years) but you only get married once!BTW, we are staying at the Garden City Hotel and the reunion is at the Woodbury Country Club...

Re: I am so PO'd!
I would definitely skip my reunion - that is the last thing I want to be doing after my wedding (even though I miss high school).

I wouldn't go to my reunion anyway. If I wanted to, and it was on my wedding night, I would definately not go. Enjoy your day!

Re: I am so PO'd!
I'd skip the reunion... and enjoy your new union. Your FH has a point when he says you'll have another one in 10-years! And besides, you're not going to miss much: some of the ugly guys got cute, some of the cute guys got ugly...all the girls who went to the 'fake bake' tan salon now probably look like leather bags, etc... lol!!

Re: I am so PO'd!
Hopefully your bridesmaids won't mind skipping the reunion - I know how you feel though. My cousin's baby shower is the morning after our wedding, and I'm afraid guests will be leaving my reception early to go home and get some sleep!

Re: I am so PO'd!
LOL! What timing! I would definately not go to your reunion, although I keep picturing you showing up in your limo and wedding dress! I'm finding this amusing! You will have other reunions. I had to skip my 10th (last year) and was upset, but I am looking foward to my 20th!enjoy your wedding!

Re: I am so PO'd!
Guess it depends on just how badly you were looking forward to your reunion. I really thought I would have more fun at mine than I did. I was hoping to get connected again to people I had lost touch with, and honestly, in about 5 minutes of talking with those who were there, I found we had all just gone our seperate ways, and that we lost touch for a reason. However, many of the people I was looking forward to seeing didn't go. And it was really weird, because it was almost just like high school, only we were all older. What I mean is, everyone had broken off into the same old groups as way back when. It all just seemed to phony for me. I ended up chatting most of the night away with someone who I was closer to in elementary school than in high school.
The other downer for me was that they actually allowed people to smoke in the room, which I didn't think was allowed. But, after recently reading a thread here, and going to a wedding last summer that allowed smoking, I guess there are still halls out there, despite what we think the laws are, that still permit smoking .. which gives me a headache and burns my eyes.
As far as you worrying about your girls trying 'to stay sober' .. people CAN have fun without drinking. Maybe I'm being an old phart, but unless they have someone driving them home, you should hope any/all of your guests stay within some limits. (Can you tell I'm not much of a drinking person?)

Re: I am so PO'd!
I skipped my 10 yr reunion and it wasn't even my wedding day!
My friends who have gone to theirs said hardly anybody showed up and the alcohol & DJ sucked. And they usually charge an arm and a leg!!!!
My reunion was at the Huntington Hilton, but I didn't feel like paying $90 a head, so the FH and I chose to head over to our regular hangout, Cyberia. Turned out, by 11:30pm, some of the folks from the reunion were flowing into Cyberia. Let's just say I'm glad I didn't waste my money.

No way! Enjoy your wedding night. It's a shame that it's on the same day as your wedding.

Re: I am so PO'd!
I think the reunion sounds like a big event right now, but I'll bet that even if you planned to go, by the time your wedding arrives it will be the LAST thing on your mind...You'll be looking ahead not behind! Maybe they'll have a 15 year reunion. Devote yourself to your wonderful wedding day and night!

Re: I am so PO'd!
I am so glad this did not happen to me, I think I might have gone to the reunion if I were you! That's because if my wedding ended at that time, I would have done an after party somewhere anyway, so why not show up at the reunion with all my bridesmaids for a while!! I know I'm in the minority!! Just wanted to offer another opinion!

Re: I am so PO'd!
I skipped my ten year reunion and bought the book for a few dollars from reunions unlimited that was our sponser. I had no desire to see people I have not spoken to in 10 years, why pay to see the people you see now? I might go to the 20 year one, besides the ten year reunion is when your life is just starting. And I had a lot of friends in high school, and deceided that, what is the point? It is your wedding night after all, there will be other reunions , hopefully only 1 wedding night! Good luck in whatever your decision is!
