I AM SO P.O.'D
Last January I joined a gym. Ladies workout express. I joined for the year contract and I guess I had auto renewal. Well in December they sent out letters saying they were going out of business (just the levittown branch) They didn't say anything to anyone (but my best friend had a really strong feeling) I moved so my address changed I didn't get my letter until after they were closed. Since they sent out the letters like 5 days before they were closing. So I figured I'd wait til my contract was up and call and cancel WRONG! They gave you an option of going to another gym in the area I really don't want to go to another one truth is I was working really odd hours and live in Bellmore and my best friend was going to the bethpage one not to far but not around the block like it use to be. So I missread the letter (that I got after the gym was closed) and I thought it said to call the credit card and stop payment So thats what I did. Then I get my credit card bill and I see they charged me double. So I call the 1800 # and the guy says I need to write a letter to them saying I want to cancel. And I need to pay until THEY cancel it. (for a gym that no longer is there) SO ANNOYING. Why can't they just cancel it over the phone. Whatever. I forgot to write the letter oops LOL.
Tonight phone rings at 845 AT NIGHT. Its the headquarters of the gym. Saying I have a past due balance. BLAH BLAH. I was like your kidding right. Lady was like UMM NO IM NOT! Well Im not paying that the gym went out of business and I called 2 or 3 weeks ago to cancel it and they said I needed to write a letter. Lady says 'well you can goto the one in Bethpage' WELL I DON'T WANT TO GOTO THAT ONE. I work in customer service and I never yell at them cause its not their fault but now I am just so ANNOYED. She says well you can goto the bethpage gym to cancel!!!! WHAT!!! Why did the guy tell me I need to write a letter. AND also Im suppose to walk into the gym that ive never been before and tell them to cancel my membership. Why should they have to deal with Levittowns problems. GRRRRRRRRR IM SO MAD!!!!!!!

OH YA I FORGOT TO ADD THAT THEY SAID THE BALANCE I OWE NOW IS 49.95 NOT 34.95 BECAUSE OF A STOP PAYMENT FEE.
