I just found out that there is going to be construction of a HUGE tent and other structures outside of my venue which has a lot of outdoor space on the day of my wedding. My dad had called the parks department to see if we could get a permit for something and they said were the ones who told and us and said THEY COULD NOT BELIEVE our venue had not told us this . . they said construction was until 8:00 (our wedding as at 5:00) So now we can have our whole cocktail hour in the midst of a construction site with loading trucks, vans, drilling. . I seriously can't stop crying. . I swear I would cancel the venue this minute if I thought I could find another place. . .it's like everything keeps going wrong

anyway - thanks for listening. .i just needed to vent. .

we are trying to find out exactly where everything is going to happen and then I am going to try to negitiate a BIG discount. . but i totally don't even care about the money. .

i looked into Battery Gardens for my wedding & for the amount of money it costs i hope they either give you a discount or some extras. hope everything works out for you

If I were you, I would try to get every concession you could, BUT also call around other places to weight your options. Seriously, you could get a sick deal if your date happens to be unbooked this soon out.

honestly, I agree.. right now places will give you stuff because they are trying to book last minute weddings... I cant believe they didnt tell you.. Im so sorry sweetie.. everything will work out

ITA!! DEFINITELY try to get as many extras as possible! I would say look around for other venues but if your invites are already printed and/or sent out that is probably too late.. I am so sorry you have to deal wih this B.S... Hopefully it's not that bad!

If it makes you feel any better, my church is covered but a scaffolding that was supposed to be gone by March....

It is never too late, I had an issue with my reception and found another location just 3 months before my wedding date. I then sent out a note stating the reception was changed to TOP. If you can really argue that this is going to affect your wedding day, the reception should give you your money back! I am not sure if you want to go thru all of this. I actually booked TOP in April and I was getting married June 21st. If not, you can really negotiate a major discount! If they don't want to work with you (like my 1st reception) you can always threaten them with a lawsuit and the media!!!! And LIW reviews. GL. I am sure everything will work out for you.

My church (St. Patricks) was covered in scaffolding both in and out. It did bother me at first but the day of it did not. Maybe you will feel the same way

Thanks everyone. . I can't tell you how nice it is to have all this support!!!!! We spoke with the parks department again and they said that they will put up a ribboned area to let our guests through b/c otherwise they would have been sent away!! they did say most of the major construction would be over by the wedding, that there would still be some noise and trucks and various vendors but not like saturday where the whole space would be filled. . now my heart just goes out to the saturday girls!!! The parks department still said the venue should have contacted us and gone through all of this. . I can't believe we found this out all through a fluke of asking for a pedicab permit!!!! We are going to try to get a BIG discount and if not, possibly search for another venue. . we only put down a small deposit so it might be worth it to switch but ohhh the hasssle. .

omg im sooooooooooooooooo sorry . thats really awful. i cant believe they didnt tell you about it. yhou soooooooooooooo have a right to be upset. usually girls spill the beans on whats bothering them and thers always the its going to be ok int he end and blah blah blah not the biggest deal. but in this case im soooo with you. thats shady of your rh to not tell you about it. you are right ... its not worth the money...but you still deserve a huge discount. they better give that to you.
please keep us posted on this as I will be wondering how it all panned out for you.

have you tried looking into other venues. its not too late to swtich places.. you might find something. anything is worth at least a try.
