I am surprised by.....

Original post by jenny11.9

1. Exactly how many poopie diapers there really are. I think we go through at least 12 diapers a day all in all. And most of them are a mix. So be sure to buy lots of diapers. I am enjoying the Pampers Newborn Swaddlers.

2. Exactly how many wipes we go through. These are goin like hot cakes! In the hospital they used little washcloths, and that makes so much more sense....but now I have the wipe warmer, and the wipes are disposable which is so much easier. I finally went to Babies R Us and bought the big refill box to save a few dollars. Pampers Sensitive Touch

3. ALL THE LAUNDRY! One little preemie baby equals a load a day! How can it be? Between spitting up, pooping and peeing on everything, I guess it adds up. The terry changing pad cover, the burp pads, the onesies getting peed on after a clean diaper is being put on...lots and lots of laundry!

4. How many onesies I need. See above....the onesies get dirty fast. I have a 'poop up the back' baby so I guess this is why.

5. How much she sleeps. She sleeps after she eats and sometimes goes for 3 hours during the day - at night we have had some 4 hour stretches! And so soundly it's like she's been drugged! I often jostle her awake just because I think she sleeps too much. Stupid right? I am sure it wont' last and I'll be wishing for these days back.

6. How small our house got. It's like somebody shrunk it overnight. i guess it's the additions of the bouncy seat, bassinet, stroller, swing and so on - but even the rooms that are 'baby free' seem so cluttered now - and me and my husband can't get past each other without a collision.

7. How much I want to go to Starbucks and read the Times this morning! TTC'rs do it while you can! It's hard to be stuck inside the house all the time. With this weather, I wouldnt dream of taking her out. Sounds good for the first few days, but Mommy is starting to suffer from sever cabin fever! (I am going to sneak out for a manicure today....)

8. How many times I wash my hands. Invest in Purell in every room and some nice hand cream to cure the inevitable dryness.

9. The bleeding! Sorry if TMI but SOMEBODY's gotta say it. HELLO two and a half weeks later with the Always pad with wings. YUCK. (Oh and somebody should have mentioned the blood clots that happen early on. That was alarming. )

10. the fact that my bottom still feels like its going to fall off. I didn't even have any hemorrhoid problems and still my whole bottom half is just so sore (again TMI) and feels like somebody is pulling it off! Talk about recovery! And I hear the c-section is even worse recovery. How's a woman supposed to take care of a new baby when her bottom is coming off or her stomach is splitting open at the seams?!?! What kind of crazy blueprint was Nature working off of with this?!!

Just wanted to share. Those are my top 10 today.....oh and the bonus 11th ....

REGISTER FOR BATTERIES WHILE YOU STILL CAN! Who knew I would need stock in batteries by the gazillions?!?!?!?!? I need D's and Triple A's - 9 volts and it goes on and on!

Yes, make sure you get the Pampers Cruisers, NOT the Pampers Baby-Dry. The Baby-Dry have NO elasticity on the sides!!!

YES man how your bottom hurts...

OMG, especially with an episiotomy...and the constipation you get afterward. Now is that TMI????

Jenny - I returned the wipes warmer I got at my shower. They instructions that came with the wipes states that it may discolor the wipes but they are still OK to use. No thank you. I dont know about the fires but my SIL was paranoid about that and since she was a Mom longer than me, I decided that it wasnt worth keeping something that someone with more experience did not feel safe about. Put the wipe between your hands for a second or squeeze the excess liquid out. Either one should take the chill off.

I was just saying/thinking this today!!! I knew it would be bad ... but OMG!!

And BTW ... I went through 3 packages of Always after Maria was born ... then a whole box of pantiliners. It didn't really slow down until about 6 weeks!

Here's what I'm surprised by ...

How much I really LOVE that she needs me so much! I was not prepared for how that makes me feel.
