FH's 30th birthday is June 3rd, and i have nothing planned and nothing bought for him...between the wedding and the house we're buying, i don't have one penny! He keeps telling me that it's no big deal and not to get him anything, but i had always planned on doing something really big for his 30th, and now i am not... I really don't know what i can do that won't cost a fortune...help!

i am going through this now and I talked FMIL into hosting a bbq at her house- maybe a friend or family member would be willing to help you do a small scale surprise party?

what about a nice backyard bbq with some family and friends
should cost to much just some hams and hots, and maybe you can ask a few friends to bring different salads and stuff

My FH 30th is Aug 2nd and I am planning for us and a bunch of his friends and his sis to go to a yankee game that day. It is old timer's day and the last one at the old yankee stadium. So there will be 8 of us there and then we will go to dinner. It is a surprise. We live in GA so I am surprising him the day before with plane tixx and tixx to the game

that's exactly what i did. I got yankee tix for 12 of us, told all his friends to come up from PA and MD. we went to the game during the day and that night I had a party for him at a bar in the east village. it was a really fun time

Don't feel bad. I couldn't do anything for FH's 30th two years ago but I decided I will do his 35th!). He really won't expect it then.

ITA!! it's a great idea!! Those are usually the BEST parties, too.

Thats ok - I made FH dinner that night and bought him some dvds that he really wanted - he knew i was broke and out of work, but surprising him with some dvds made his day!
Maybe you could plan something - save a little here and there and then do it out of the blue - even 2months later!

If he likes baseball, what about getting tickets for a Ducks game on a night when they've got fireworks after the game? Ducks tix are way cheaper than Mets/Yankees and the fireworks would make it festive.
