I am thisclose to walking out of my job

I just asked my boss if I could leave 30 minutes early to attend a wake and he said, if this this and this is done, ok. Would he not let me if I didn't change his diaper before I left? Then he went on a rampage about how a package didn't get someplace and it's my fault (I have proof through the fed-ex slip that I sent it and that it was signed for). He yelled at me in front of the entire office and said I have terrible follow through skills. Then walked away from me.

I really wish I could just walk out of here an never come back.

You should make a complaint to your HR department. There is no excuse for his repromanding you infront of co-workers, that is in poor taste.

I had a wake last night. Sorry for your loss.

i've been there before...and I DID walk out- LOL!
and this was in the WTC so thank God. If you are realy unhappy and can afford to leave, do it! Can you talk to HR maybe?

Misty - sorry to hear that! I used to work for someone who NEVER appreciated the work I did and NEVER gave positive feedback and it's a yucky enviornment to work in......

He spoke to you like that in front of everyone?! What an a s shol! I don't know what to say, but maybe you should 'moon' him - and ask him how THAT is for follow through skills!!!

Firstly, I am sorry for your loss.

Secondly that was inexcusable behavior on your boss' part. I would say something to HR.

It isn't the first time either. And HR means nothing in this company. Trust me, I've tried.

Tell him that you are leaving and that you hope that next time he would pull you aside and dissuss certain issues in private.

I hate unprofessional people like that, I recently worked with a boss who yelled at peole (me included) in front of everyone.

When I was a manager, Inever treated people that way! How RUDE!!!!!

Mistyeyed, I hear what you are going through, every day I feel like walking out. There is NO EXCUSE for his behavior especially in the midst of your situation. HE IS COMPLETELY UNSYMPATHETIC!

I should say that it's not a personal loss, but one of a good friend. I asked for 30 friggin minutes so that I could be on time to the wake. I swear I am so over him and this place, I'd rather go hungry that be put through this anymore.

Sorry to hear your boss is classless!
Can you talk to him directly? (Is it worth it?) Maybe approach him w/ the Fed Ex slip and show him he's WRONG. & very nicely say, the next time you want to yell at me in front of the entire office, ask me first, no need to yell!!!! I did that once- w/ my old man boss- got me no where, but I felt better about it! Transfered to another boss not long after!!!

What do you do? What kind of work would you be looking for? Maybe one of us ladies has a hook up for you.

Try not to think about it, he probably gets off on talking down to people because he is an insecure piece of garbage with small equipment!

I've done that repeatedly. This is the point of no return. I yell back at him now. I showed him the slip, he doesn't care. He's a completely irrational *******.

Misty - I TOTALLY understand what you are going through. I've been through it before and I'm not so happy at my present job.

Re-do your resume and get out!!!!!!! No job is worth being miserable over.

Sounds like you work for my old boss! I spent 5 years miserable before I finally walked out, don't do it!

Update your resume and start looking. It may take a while, but it's worth it. There is no need for anyone to yell at you like that!!
