But Geico scuks! Because of my accident my insurance went up $380 for 6 months thats $760 a year! I knew it was going up but I didnt think that much. I guess I shouldnt be that mad at them but plus now they are charging me a processing fee to pay my bill every month.

Ok vent over

I am going to have to **** it up and pay it!

It's really Allstate in that famous from dropping people. Not Geico. Geico is actually insuring more people who they normally would not insure. They actually have the most policyholders in the state of NY. And pretty much every single insurance company has a processing fee. Also, it's not just Geico that raises rates after an accident. I'm not just saying this because I work there, I'm saying this because I know the insurance industry.

Yes, they raised my rates and when the policy was expiring, they dropped me. (same thing happened to my co-worker who used to have Geico) I had lots of memorable phone calls to Geico during that time. Good luck! Hopefully you'll have a better experience!

That *****.... I'm kinda surprised though... I got a 6 point ticket for a moving violation and my rates didn't go up at all (unless tickets don't affect rates).... They lower my rates every year...I'm at $90/mnth for full coverage now.

Celia I they have raised my rates every 6 months for the last year. I think in Sept its time to shop around and drop them. They are supposed to be cheap ummm nope I think it went up another 10 bucks a month.

Have you shopped around to see if you can get other insurance for cheaper?

That seems like a huuuuge increase. Did you call and discuss with them? Ask what they did...

i've been with allstate for 10 years and numerous accidents under my belt (some my fault, some not) and numerous tickets and not once did they ever drop me. come to think of it my rates barely even changed.

Now Geico, they are another story. they dropped my brother due to me driving his car and getting into an accident (someone hit me)

Re: I apologize in advance to anyone who works for Geico

I have GEICO and love them. I pay dirt cheap auto insurance and that's saying a lot considering I had a ton of speeding tickets on my record when I signed up w. them.

As for the increase - don't let that stress you out. I got my Policy Renewal a few weeks ago and it was also increased. I talked to a Customer Service rep and he explained the surcharges added but said if I paid my insurance in full, I would not get charged.

So I paid the entire amount on the bill, thinking it was a lost cause..

Then a few days ago I got a fat check from GEICO and all it said 'here is a check representing a policy adjustment'.

So that whole increase was a bunch of baloney!! Don't be fooled - you will get a check w/ money back!!

EDITED to add: the processing fee is only $ 4.00 per month but if you pay the entire policy in FULL, you don't get charged that 'fee'. I definitely think you should contact a Customer Service rep to have them possible 'offset' the increase if it WAS increased due to the accident.

Don't shoot the messenger... but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE talk to a Customer Service Representative before thinking your rates went up because of the accident.... When was your renewal?

If you already talked to a rep... and your rates did go up (and they could have) Have someone do a policy review.. they'll look for ways to off-set the increase.

Uggh that's horrible. That's waaay too much to be surcharged for an accident (I work in insurance so I see it all the time but never that much even when there's multiple accidents). You should definitely shop around for a better price.
