After much stressing I finally booked my reception site and my church. I originally had another place booked but I decided to change and today I finally did! I'm switching from LI to NYC!!! My ceremony will be at St. Ignatius Loyola on Park Ave. and my Reception will be at the New York Junior League Historical Townhouse!!! I am soooooo excited!
Now I just have to cancel the old place and fight to try and get some of my deposit back!
And this all happened today on my 5th anniversary!!! and 2 days away from my 1 year mark!

Congrats! I am from Manhattan and St. Ignatius is probably one of the most BEAUTIFUL churches in all of New York! Good luck to you!

Congrats! And just an FYI, if your original hall is in Suffolk, there is a Suffolk County law stating basically that a catering hall can not hold more than $200 off your deposit if you give them them ample time(defined as 6 months or more) to rebook. It may never come to this, but it did for me (& they had a lot more than $200) & in SCC I was awarded everything but $75, reguardless of what was in the small print of my original contract!

Stavia - how did you find out about that law? My old reception hall is in Nassau, but I wonder if there is a similar law here. Where would I have to look to find out?

Actually antother reception hall in Suffolk gave me the heads up. I really don't know about Nassau. Maybe you could search online? Sorry I couldn't be of more help! Good luck.
