I booked the reception site...now what?

Is it too early to do anything else now considering my wedding is sept 30, 06? I kinda want to get started with everything so the stress doesn't come all at the end.

Church? Ceremony Site?

Next big ones:

Florist
DJ
Photographer
Videographer

They book very very very quickly, and people are already booked for '07 and '08

It's never too early and just think that if you book this year you will be locked into this years prices while everyone else who waits will be paying 2007 rates!

i want to get married on site, but there are no such thing as priests that marry on site right? there are retired priests right? my italian mom is giving me a hard time about this.

I am September 15th 06 and I did pretty much everything got all the big things taken care of except for BM dresses Tuxes and flowers I have some little things to do but I wanted to get as much done as I could so I wouldn' have to be stressed and running around like a chicken without a head. Also I didn't want to have to settle cuz time was closing in on me. now pretty much all I have to do is sit back and send out money.

hair and make up. I never would have thought to book it so far in advance, but the good ones get taken first! Plus not every person will travel to you if you want it done at your house. I did my trials not really knowing what I want to do. I can always go back to my booked vendors once I have my dress and know exactly what I want.

Oh and church/officiant...definitely make sure your date is booked for that!

Good luck!

wow really they will do it in your house? what about for the bridesmaids will they do it for them too? sorry i'm clueless but i guess everyone was in the beginning.

yes they will both come to your house (which is nice if you want pictures of you getting ready). Most will do MOH, bridesmaid, mothers of bride and groom. Basically anyone. Usually the bigger the party the less the cost per person. Definitely check some LI vendors out.

Oh and all I did was book for myself and then tell them there is a possibility for more. I haven't asked all my bridal party yet, so I didn't want to commit on behalf of them since I'm not paying for it. Both my vendors said that was fine, I could let them know at a later date.

We're also getting married at the RH, and are currently looking for an officiant. We're both Catholic but priests can't officiate outside of a church bc then they're condoning the marriage and it's not really in the eyes of God (blah blah blah). A friend of the family is a priest and that's what he said, he can't even attend the reception which is sad. There's one on here that's reformed and married (Tom McCormick) and I was looking into him. Personally I believe God is everywhere and since we're getting married on the green Earth that He created I think he'll see our love and recognize our marriage just fine!

Re: I booked the reception site...now what?

i believe the same thing, isn't god everywhere? besides at this one church i attend they have mass on sundays on the beach!! when i told my mom that it made her think. i am an outdoors person and i am claustrophobic. Besides that i already did some volunteer work i taught religion for 4 years straight i should be intitled to have my wedding where i please!!

I booked the Dj after the hall, and then photographer and videographer.... We booked the DJ in late Jan or in Feb.. and at the time the wedding was 7/30/06...... I think the earlier you get things done, the better. We have booked now:
Hall
DJ
Photo
Video
Florist
Dress

And I am so glad, because now I have a not as stressful year ahead of me, and I don't have to worry about whether or not the vendors are booked for my date.

Tom McCormick is great. We met him last night. He is so comfortable to talk with and is so interested in you as a couple. We only spent 45 minutes with him last night and I really feel he got the jist of 'us'. Definitely go meet him. We are both Roman Catholic, but wanted to get married at our reception site. Father Tom will do the cermony however you like, a traditional catholic or mix it up a bit. We are doing a catholic cermony, but personalizing it more. He's a wonderful speaker and has great stories, I know he will make our ceremony with his great personality. (sorry I think some priests make the ceremony boring) I walked out of the rectory last night with all smiles, I know he will do a great job.
