I bought my DRESS!!!!! (long!)

What a wonderful day yesterday was!!!! My mom and FMIL came with me to David's Bridal in Westbury for my dress shopping appointment, and I really can't say enough nice things about the staff there!! I truly felt like a princess with all of the personal attention we got from our consultant, Carlotta. She was friendly and engaging, and was instantly able to help me find the exact style of dress I was looking for! She really made my day so special, and I can't thank her enough for that. It was just lovely, and she really made me feel like a BRIDE! So, with that said - on to the dress shopping!

Within minutes, I had three gowns to try on, thanks to Carlotta's expert eye! I had already printed out a copy of my saved favorites from the DB website, so she looked at that and instantly found a few of my selections, then asked me to pick out one dress on my own too, something that wasn't on my list. The first dress was something I thought I would love, and it was the first one I picked out on my own. It was a ballgown with a bodice top and on the rack it looked gorgeous. On me though, I just looked lost in it! lol! As I was in the dressing room changing out of the first dress, my mom looked at the second dress on the rack, and told my FMIL, 'That's Helena's dress, she just doesn't know it yet.' Mother's intuition, I suppose So, Carlotta hands me the second dress, and at first look, it was not something I would have picked off the rack. It wasn't white, (I thought I just wanted a white dress) and I thought the champagne color would be too dark for a wedding dress. But it was the style I was looking for, so I tried it on. No mirrors in the changing room itself, so I had no idea what I looked like until I came out. The entire store stopped and everyone in the immediate area gasped. It was very quiet, my FMIL was smiling, and my mom just started crying!! I felt like something was happening, so I finally turned around and looked at myself in the mirror....

Oh my God. This is my dress.

Everything just got very calm and still. And I felt it happen - I felt the ownership of MY DRESS. My mom was crying, FMIL was nodding and smiling, Carlotta was beaming, and I just couldn't even talk! I just twirled and smiled, and then started crying a little too! I think I knew at this point that this was MY dress, but I wanted to try on the other gowns just to be sure. Yeah, we were done after this dress! Lol! I tried on two more and I just was not having it. Now the white gowns made me look too red, and the ivory color just wasn't doing anything for my complexion like that beautiful champagne/tulle color did. I got back into THE dress, this time pairing it with a small birdcage veil. I knew without a doubt that this was MY dress now! The only setback was the price ..... it was way over what I was originally looking for, but it was on sale, and my mom wanted to try and haggle with them on the price. After much hemming and hawing, they said they couldn't bring the price down any lower, and that was pretty much it... So, we made a NEW gameplan at that moment, because now I wanted this dress more than anything. I offered to pay half, but my mom and FMIL offered to help too, so we ended up splitting the cost three ways. And that was it! We made the final decision, and once we did, Carlotta gave me a bell and told me to make a wish. As I did, I just looked up and saw my mom and future mother-in-law, and that's when it REALLY hit me - I am buying my wedding dress right now! That's when I just completely LOST IT and started crying and shaking!! Carlotta brought over tissues and we were all hugging - it was like something out of a movie! lol! After that, me and the moms went to Cheesecake Factory where my mom treated us to lunch, and we just gabbed about wedding planning for the next two hours, and my FMIL told us all about her wedding too :) And of course, I texted a pic of me in the dress to a few of my friends :)

So that's my dress story - I know it was SUPER long, but I had such a beautiful experience and wanted to share every detail of it! Oh, and my dress? Right here! My Dress! I feel like a fairy princess in it - it's SO me, and I still can't believe that I found a dress this perfectly fit to my own style! I already miss wearing it!! LOL! So, so happy right now :)
