I called....

my dad's girlfriend today to find out what color her dress is for the wedding and to see what color flowers she wants. Her dress is champagne. My dress is champagne. Will it be a problem?

Re: I called....

Hummmmmm why would she do that?
Does she know yours is? I am sure it will be ok.
If it really bothers you then tell her so she can maybe exchange it.

I understand your thoughts because although mine is white.
My step mom is wearing Champagne not only is it Champagne but it's her wedding dress from last nov 07. She is remarried since my Dad is deceased. How about that one.???

Whoa. That's a little hmmm....odd? Why did she wear her wedding dress to your wedding?

She has seen pics of the dress, and we have discussed the colors ad nauseam...it's just strange to me...I can't understand why she didn't go with any other color....

Jen, I know I would be upset too, but YOU ARE STILL THE BRIDE. No one is going to care about her, or that she is wearing the same color as you. If they even notice, they will say, 'why would she wear the same color as our beautiful bride???'

Don't worry about it - I know that is difficult - but trust me, it will be fine.

Thanks Jen. I'm not so much upset about it, as confused. I'm fine with it. It really doesn't matter, I was just wondering if people would think she is the 'mother of the bride'....that would be weird....

It might be ok--Champagnes can vary a lot--maybe if you see her dress you will see that it's not really the same? Plus I'm sure it's nowhere near as gorgeous as yours

One of DH's friends' girlfriend wore a white dress to my wedding....now I would never do that but it was fine!

Ohhhh I see. Sorry I jumped the gun there. Even if people think she's the mother of the bride, it shouldn't matter much. Are you announcing anyone at the wedding, before you enter? Can you announce them as 'The bride's father and his girlfriend, Mr. XX and Ms. XX'??? Is that strange?

No worries. I think that is what I'm worried about. I'm thinking that when she walks down to be seated in the church people might wonder. I guess though it will be in the program, so I'm probably making too much of this already.
I guess it just hit me, that I will be getting flowers for her corsage and not one for mom... I don't think the color of her dress is why I'm upset....

Re: I called....

I'm sorry, but there is DEFINITELY a hidden agenda there, hmm? I don't care how many different shades of champagne there are...unless your BMs are in champagne too, NOBODY should be wearing anything in the white family. That is just rude. I would say something to her immediately.
Are you close with her or do you not get along? Just curious...I am still baffled by this.

I'm close with her. She is very good to me. I don't necessarilly think there is a hidden agenda, as maybe that's what looked good on her...

Re: I called....

I'm sure black looks phenomenal on her. Black looks good on anyone.

What it all comes down to is this...if you are not the type to let something like a champagne colored dress that is the same color as yours bother you on your wedding day, then just let it be. If it is going to bother you, then let her know how you feel. I am sensitive about these things and I know it would bother me.

Did she already get her dress? Can you tell her she's not supposed to wear the same color as the bride?

She got it a few months ago. I've never seen it, I just knew she got one. I called today to find out the color so I could let the florist know....
