I CALLED THE COPS TONIGHT!!

I have an ederly woman who lives across the street from me..and today I noticed all her papers piling up so I grew concerned. Me and my mom went around the corner to see if we could find which house her care taker lived in..I was jumping from house to house trying to figure it out but no one was home! Finally a woman across the street told me that she lived across from her..But she wasn't home! So I went home and called the 7th Preicent to send a squad car. While I was on the phone with one of the officers he knew who I was talking about!! He then began to tell me she was invovled in a bad accident a few weeks back but may have been in the house. He then connected me with the operator who sent not one but two squad cars to check it out..right before they showed up I found out from my neighbor what happened. She had a stroke and got in car accident, totalling her car. She is now paralyized from one side of her body down and she is in a rehab facility!!! They have to teach her how to walk, talk and eat...how sad!!!!! So now we adopted her new kitten!!!! It lives on our front porch!!! So cute! I don't even want to give it back!!...

FH just called and asked me why I called the 7th Precient!!! He's in the 1st!!! He said it came up with my name and everything..he was worried I guess!!!!!

She's known me since I was born!!! I still remember her driving me to school when I missed the bus in the 4th grade!!! I just hope I did the right thing cause the cops were questioning all the cats on the property and in the house that is locked..they advised us we should call the town and report it!!!!

oh no! there are cats IN the house? yeah someone is gonna have to go in and get them out.

Yes you could see them!!! The cops said they kick the door down for people not cats!!! That is so unfair!!! They are still people too!!!!!

I go thru that alot since I am a mail carrier. I am always watching things. You just never know.

It is so nice to know that there still are people out there who really care! You are a great person!!!! I am sure your neighbor would really appreciate what you have done for her!

That happened to us one day. There was an old woman who rents an apt across the street from us. One day the landlord came over to ask my dad (whos an EMT) to check on her since he hadnt heard anything coming from the apt for a couple days.. My dad got in but the outcome wasnt good. She had passed in her sleep. It was very sad, she was a nanny to some of the kids on the block and they were so upset.

Its very good that you checked in on her, cause you never know. If you know you have an elderly person living alone near you, you should check in on them every once in a while.

As for her cats, if you know noone is going in to check on them you should call the SPCA (Nassau or Suffolk), ASPCA is for the city only. If you cant tell put a note on the door asking for someone to call you if they are taking care of the cats, give it a day or two and then call. If noone is going in there they will starve to death or dehydrate.

The kitten is gone now...it was here before I left to do some wedding things with my sister...

I am so upset Smokey is gone!!!!!

FOUND HIM!!!! I got in my car searched for him as soon as he saw me he came running to my car!!! Awww!!!!

I think what you did was great. It is important to look at for your neighbors, most importantly the elderly. You should make sure that someone does something for the cats. Not only will they die and you will have to live with the thought you did nothing, they will also stink her house out as well and make it unhabitable for her to return to. I would make the call if I were you. A few weeks back, I had ran out shopping and my smoke detector went off and my neighbor who had a fire last year and knew we had a dog in here called the FD. They had to break in through the window and lucky for us it was a malfunctioning alarm but they did the right thing and it was really nice to know they were looking out for us and our dog.

Thanks for the tip!!!!! :) I just love this new kitten!!! It's starting to know all of us...it follows me where ever I go...I think it thinks I am it's mother!!!..LOL
