i agree it's due to jealousy. this has happened several times, that i don't even tell my friends about the good, exciting stuff unless they ask. thank god i have a sister who is just as happy for me as i am when good things happen! (and i am for her, too).

I can totally relate to how it feels when someone rains on your parade, I'm sorry too that your friends are not supportive!

Oh my, Cheryl that sound like 90% of my family also!!!!!
I had a friend, my former BEST FRIEND no less, that did this to me constantly. Esp. when it came to dating, she would constantly try to rain on my parade and never saw anything but the negative in any situation I would confide in her. Sure, I wanted honest opinions from her -- that was the reason I would confide in her. But even when things were going FANTASTIC in a situation, she would say 'well its only a matter of time b/f he shows his true colors' or 'well I would be careful, because you always wind up hurt, etc'
It was a constant downer and totally drained me after awhile
Is it any wonder we are no longer friends?

I could name a million different ways she's done this over the years, but I'm really deciding not to turn a blind eye to her remarks anymore, especially as it relates to me getting married.

Me as well. I recently cleaned house and got rid of some 'friends' who were SUCKERS (Short for 'life-suckers' - People who live to drain the life from anyone with color in their cheeks.)
Things are so much LIGHTER without them!

gotta love this...my family does this too. always need to bring me to the real world. when i got my job, which is in queens, instead of 'oh, that is awesome, i'm so happy for you' i got 'queens!!?? are you sure you want to travel that far? i'd rather see you in stony brook.' okay, do you have a job for me in stony brook???
or about dh...well, don't get me started on those comments.
