I hate our kitchen! Please excuse the mess i the before pictures. Here is how it started:

Another before

and yet another one

First thing we did was take down some cabinets on each side of the sink

then we took down the side counter

then we took out the wall oven and the cabinets above it and below it, plus the glass top and the cabinets under it

then I got to rip down some dry wall, that was fun!

then it was time to rip up some tile!

Boy am I tired!

Can't wait for next weekend when we finish ripping the cabinets, finishing ripping the walls down and start building new ones!

Are you leaving the area all open or are you going to put and island in? If it were up to me, the less walls the better! Dude, it looks really great, congratulations!

here are a few pictures from little stuff we did throughout the week. We have off on Sunday and Monday and Darren is off on Tuesday so there is going to a TON of progress in the next few days.

Here is us, starting to build the wall back up

different angle.

Then the sheetrock went up

We had to cut throught he wall behind the sink to replace some stuff (although we did not replace the drywall yet).

The soffit (I don't know if I spelled that right) that we started building that will go over the half wall and will have high hats over the counter.

Last we started building the small bar attachment where our wine fridge will go (you can see another angle two pictures up as well).

You might be able to see too that we finally got all the mortar from underneath the tiles up. That stunk, took a really long time AND also caused dust to fly into just about every corner of our house!

Yesterday he worked on all the electrical changes that we need and also got 8 new high hats in place.
Here are the new ones in the sitting area, on the light to the right..about a day ago was still all water stained from the damage from the hurricane's...hubby got this stuff called Kills, we sprayed it on and that's it! You can't even really tell we ever had the damage. Man I would recommend that stuff to anyone. If you ever have water damage on your ceiling, get this stuff!

Here are the new ones over the dining room table and you can see the two in the soffit as well even though they are not live yet

And my fridge on the right, man I love that thing!

We got a ton done this weekend! We finally picked out a faucet, got some finishing touches picked up, looked at barstools...we almost have one picked out, and got some cabinets up! Today we will finish the cabinets, then we will put in the remaining appliances, and the granite company is coming to do the template for the coutertop. We will start laying the floor either tonight or tomorrow.

WOW! What a difference! It looks soooo nice!!! You guys are doing a great job. I LOVE that big window over the sink!

WOW that looks excellent...I love the color of your cabinets...What color are you going to paint and what type of floor are you putting down?? Excellent work

Thanks Everyone, I can't believe how much hard work this is but I love seeing the results!
On the back splash we are going to use granite tile in a diamond shape which will match the counter top (its called Uba Tuba and is mainly green with some black and some gold). On the other walls I think we are going to paint very neutral colors and get some accent pieces with vibrant colors.
On the floor, we are going to put a wood floor down, the color will be a bit lighter than the cabinets are. The flooors *should* start going down today but I have a feeling that we won't be able to get to it.
We shall see though. Aftewr this weekend we will not really have a big update for 3-5 weeks until the countertops come in.
