I can't believe it!!!

My FI got a call from the priest who is performing our ceremony on July 4th at 12:30pm. He just made an appt to do another ceremony at 11:30am on July 4th...I think in West Babylon. I'm getting married at the Watermill in Smithtown. How could he possibly make it to my ceremony in time???? I'm so mad!!!!!!!!!!!

I've heard of miracles, but how is he planning on pulling that one off. I would call him and tell him you had him booked first and he needs to be absolutely sure he will make it on time to your wedding. I would make him sign something if he is late you don't have to pay the full amount your paying him. JMO

what--i would call him back and complain! he'll never make it in time--what if the 11:30 ceremony starts late?--you signed w/him first--so he better accomodate you!

I just can't beleive he would do that. Did he promise FH he'd be there on time? That is just rude. What is he planning on doing, walking down the aisle right before you. Usualy te priest is there early to keep the groom calm and together.

if the other ceremony isn't a full mass its doable. He could be done in 15 minutes and have 45 minutes to get to you - that assuming the first ceremony starts and ends on time. Though I'm surprised he would risk being late to your ceremony - he doesn't have much of a buffer zone in there. You'd think he'd want to be at your ceremony a little early too.

Did your FH question this decision? It seems risky to me.

The message said that he would make it to our wedding at 12:20-12:30pm. Our cocktail hour starts at 1pm! and ceremony at 12:30pm.

FI asked him to replace him for the other ceremony and the priest said he'd look into it, but that he doesn't think he'll be late.

I would tell him that that is cutting it too close for you. Tell him to either move the other wedding to 11:00 or you want your money back. You still have time to find someone else. I know its cutting it close to your wedding, but I am sure you can find someone else that will be a little more dedicated to your ceremony and needs.

That is impossible to make it there in time.
He is not holding his end of the contract if he shows up late. What if the other ceremony runs/starts late.

I would either say since that it his falt double booking so close, to either move the first wedding earlier, or refund your amount. On 4th of july traffic could be crazy. If you keep him, there might be the risk he 'yes you to death that he'll be there' and what could you do at that point if he is late.

Just curious! What was the reason of him even telling your FI he has an 11:30 wedding if he is sure to be on time for yours? He knew it would be upsetting. Sounds to me like he's putting you on notice that he MAY be late and then you can't say you didn't know.

I think your Dad, if not your FI, needs to have a conversation with him and settle it before then.

I don't know why he even told us if he didn't think it was an issue. Now I have something HUGE to worry about that whole morning. Are we actually going to get to be married? Or is our cocktail hour from 1-2 going to be cancelled since the priest might not get there until 1pm? He probably told my FI that he just booked another wedding an hour before ours since he mentioned he won't be there until ten minutes or even a minute before it starts!

Seriously that is CRAP!! I weould make him sign a waiver that if he is over five minutes late that you get your full refund back! That really appals me!

Is this priest the pastor of the church? If not call the pastor and complain and say you want your money back to find another priest or you want him to find you another priest or tell him that the 11:30am wedding has to be pushed up to 10:30 or 11 am. Wow I can't believe he did that. what a jerk.
good luck, i hope he changes his mind and decides not to do that other wedding.

i live in babylon and even without an 11:30 mass, getting to smithtown in 45 minutes on a holiday weekend is big-time IFFY!!!!!! unless this other ceremony is 5 minutes tops, i would definitely start complaining - LOUDLY!!! what if the other bride is late??? what if there is bad weather??? too many what if's!!!!

I'm so sad, FI and I printed and put together programs all weekend and they are finally done! If I switch priests, do I just ask for my money back? Hopefully it won't be difficult to get it back.
