I can't believe this!!

I just got a phone call from a friend who I haven't spoken to in at least a year!!She knew I was getting married and asked me when. when I told her she said well I better be getting an invitation (in a joking way) I told her we were having a very small wedding and could not include everyone. She said well you should think about the firends that have been with you from the very beginning and that is how you cut your list. I hardly speak to this person anymore. Maybe once or twice a year for the last five yeras. Am I wrong??

I just can't believe people would sya they are exepcting an invite!!

Some people are unbelieveable. You are not wrong. If you don't want to invite her, you don't have to.

someone at work(she used towork in my department) asked me if i mailed out my invites yet. she thinks she's getting invited.

Well you have already explained to her your reasons, there is nothing more for you to do. There will always be someone that doesn't agree with your decisions, but i suggest you stand firm on them. Obviously you dont seem to think she is a close enough friend, therefore there is no reason to invite her if you dont want to. Just remember you can't please them all

It's your wedding, do what is best for you and your FH. You're never going to be able to please everyone when it comes to these events.

Yes- my rule for the guest list is I haven't seen them in a year, then they are not invited. I just know she is going to be upset and try to make me feel guilty

I agree with everyone here-- you told her your wedding is small and someone you have not seen in so long certainly does not earn the right to give you advice on your guest list!

Whatever- it's your day and you should do it how you damn well please!

In the end, you cannot please everyone, so as long as you please yourself- you will have no regrets.

If you cannot STAND the guilt-- can you just add her-- or does she come in a 'package deal' where it will create a domino effect?

Obviously she does not know how to recognize hints...if she did she would have realized that she isn't getting an invite...you told her that you were having a small invite list, if she can't process it that...oh well...stand your ground and don't let people with no manners get to you

People like that make me cringe. If she's as good of friend as SHE CLAIMS she is, then she should understand that you want a small wedding. And what is it with people who guilt their way into being inviting places? You have every right to be upset-and every right not to invite her.

People inviting themselves is so rude!!! If this friend makes an issue say that you started inviting people that you spoke with everyday and then every other day and worked your way back...by the time you made it to friends you spoke to once a year, you ran out of room on the guest list!!! Maybe that will put a sock in her gapping hole of a mouth (ok...she ticked ME off too!)

OMG - seriously, what is up with people?

I've had 2-3 people try and go to my sister (my MOH also ) and try to get her to make sure I invite them.
First of all, these are people I NEVER talk to anymore, and second of all, I'm not a celebrity... LOLOL

WHY do people want to be invited to weddings so badly? this is not rhetorical, feel free to answer!

I think that was very nervy of her-and I wouldn't invite her if you weren't planning on it-you explained nicely that you are having a small wedding and can't have everyone you would like to and that should be enough.
