As if decided on a place wasn't hard enough, now it is between two dates!
The first week of August or the first week of October at the Carlyle. I am afraid August will be too hot for pictures in my gown, but I'm not sure about October. (I am a teacher and will have to take some days off of work)
Both are Sunday evenings.... what do you think?????
(I know, you would think at 26 I could make these decisions on my own but I can't... I have a tough time deciding what to order for dinner!!!)

I think August is better - still have daylight savings time and therefore no rush for outdoor pictures. I think August is the most beautiful month for flowers and gardens.

Re: I can't decide on a date.....
Being a teacher myself....I think it will be easier to do all those last minute details in the summer....WHEN YOU ARE OFF
Also I am not sure if you are having a honeymoon then but even if you are taking a small one...you would have nothing to worry about....
I know even when I am out sick or on a personal day I still worry if everything is being taken care of with the kids at school
I am actually getting married over president's day weekend...so I will have no time off before but have an entire week off after

Re: I can't decide on a date.....
I voted on October...solely because I CANNOT be hot!! I get so uncomfortable (thus why I picked January!!) in the summer and I know a wedding dress would just add to the heat! Good luck!
I am partial to summer because I love it when it is hot. I hate cold weather besides most of the time you will be in AC.

Re: I can't decide on a date.....
I really love the hot weather minus the humidity so I don't think I'd be able to be in a wedding dress in August hence I chose the Spring for my wedding. And would you be able to take off from work? Since you are a teacher, August seems to be the best month for you in terms of time off, having time to tend to last minute details and a honeymoon. My preference would be in October because it's not muggy and the Fall is a beautiful season as well. Go with your heart and see what might be convenient for you and your FH. And I see you narrowed down on a place. Glad to see that.... Good Luck !!!

Re: I can't decide on a date.....
We originally wanted to be married on July 7th because that's when we got engaged. But our families, kept commenting on how hot it would be. I know....real nice, right? But, being a teacher, August would be great for you to have time off before to prepare, and time off after for the honeymoon.
I think either date will work out just fine! Good luck with your decision!

I voted for august because i am also a teacher. That way you have time off before going back to work.

Re: I can't decide on a date.....
I'm a teacher as well and refused to have a summer wedding just because of my job. We picked a date where we wouldn't have to take as many days off of work (we are getting married the Friday BEFORE THanksgiving- so we only need to take off the the Mon-Wed after).
You need to do what you really want- its your wedding and you only want to do it once! :) I'm sure a principal would understand. Four of us got engaged this year, and only one is having a summer wedding.
Good luck! Jennie

Re: I can't decide on a date.....
I voted August, mainly bc you're a teacher, and can enjoy everything while you're off and not go through the hassle of things while school is in session!
Best of Luck!

I think October would be just lovely at the Caryle. I am a teacher too, who got married in April and had to take a few days off. It's ok! October is more comfortable weather wise...JMO. GOOD LUCK!

I am a teacher also- I would pick August . . . I am not sure about your dress (did you already pick it out?) making you too hot for pictures . . . I just wouldn't want to take off from work . . . It is really up to you . . . Are you a tenured teacher? If you are already tenured, then you might feel more comfortable taking the time off, but If you are not tenured, I would not take the time off. Also, having your wedding in Aug. will allow you time to get yourself together and allow for more relaxation and enjoyment time as a newly married couple. Good luck making your decision.

Re: I can't decide on a date.....
I am tenured and I would take 6 days off- four of them would already be off for Columbus Day, Yom Kippor and Rosh Hasshanah (?spelling?)
Plus, we started dating Sept. 30th and that was when we were planning on having our rehersal dinner. I thought it was cute!
I also love the fall colors.... Can I do black or burgendy dresses in the summer on a Sunday night, whith red roses?
So that would give me a two week vacation.
I'm just worried it will be too hot- I love hot weather but not in a full satin wedding gown! I really want to take pics outside somewhere, like Westbury Gardens or Oyster Bay Arboratum.
Church is at 3:30- not a full mass. Cocktails are prob. at 6pm. That leaves from 4:30-6:00 for pics and to get to the recep. hall. Not much time when you think about it.

Re: I can't decide on a date.....
I am going to speak to my principal and see how she reacts to taking 6 days off....
I have been there for four years and by then it will be my sixth year.
