I really need some help. I am getting married August 21 2009, and have been searching for a dress for the past 2 1/2 months. I probably should've started earlier but I didn't realize how hard this was going to be. I have been to about 8 places so far (David's Bridal, Burton's Bridal, Paradise Bridal, Macy's in the Smithhaven Mall, Bridal Suite of Centereach, Fantasia, the Wedding Center, and tonight, Helen's Bridal) that I can remember and I can't seem to find exactly what I want. I want a strapless dress, with a lot of sparkly beading, a zipper back, and pick ups.. preferibly satin. I didn't think this would be so hard to find. I found one that I really liked a Paradise Bridal, but I have heard TONS of bad things about their alterations, and theres these wrinkes on the sides of the bodice that I am afraid will not be able to altered correctly to get rid of them... plus the model in the picture in the website has the same wrinkles (its an allure dress 8365). I am literally freaking out. Like no where has dresses with zipper backs, or with pickups. I don't know what to do anymore, or where to go. If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it, because I am getting to the point that ever time I leave a place without a dress I burst out into tears. Please help me :(

I found my dress at RK bridal last week and my wedding is May, 2009. Gilda was my bridal consultant- she picked out my dress and it was nothing like what I thought I wanted. It's also an allure dress. If you are willing to be open, let Gilda, or other bridal consultants pick stuff out for you.
Also, have you tried Macys? Demetrios (the bridal store at Macys) seemed to have tons of dresses with pick-ups. I went to the one in the city but I think there is also one in Manhasset and Smith Haven. I have also heard Lotus Bridal in Brooklyn is great.

Try the Wedding Plaza in Floral Park...this is one dress they have that fits your description: They have a ton of dresses though

I got mine at paradise bridal, and so far so good, although I havent gotten to the alteration part yet. Is it possible to contact the manufacture, or like other girls say ask a store to order it for you. BTW, we are date twins!

Try RK bridals in the city, they have so mnay dresses though..

Well if you find something that you like, maybe you can change the back if it is not exactly what you are looking for. I changed my dress from a corset back to a zipper. Yeah, it cost me but that's what I wanted and Demetrios did it. Don't stress - you'll find the ONE! This is supposed to be a happy experience so try to relax -- you WILL find it! We all promise!
I love Private Label. They have a lot of beading and details.
I went to East West Bridals in Secaucus NJ. I ended up going with a completely different type of dress, but they were able to contact the designer at Private Label and have them create alternative designs for the bottom of the dres we liked. We wanted more intricate detail on the bottom of the dress similar to what was in the bodice.
They were very helpful.
I also agree about going to Kleinfelds, RK Bridal or Adriennes all in NYC.
