I can't find a dress :(

I really need some help. I am getting married August 21 2009, and have been searching for a dress for the past 2 1/2 months. I probably should've started earlier but I didn't realize how hard this was going to be. I have been to about 8 places so far (David's Bridal, Burton's Bridal, Paradise Bridal, Macy's in the Smithhaven Mall, Bridal Suite of Centereach, Fantasia, the Wedding Center, and tonight, Helen's Bridal) that I can remember and I can't seem to find exactly what I want. I want a strapless dress, with a lot of sparkly beading, a zipper back, and pick ups.. preferibly satin. I didn't think this would be so hard to find. I found one that I really liked a Paradise Bridal, but I have heard TONS of bad things about their alterations, and theres these wrinkes on the sides of the bodice that I am afraid will not be able to altered correctly to get rid of them... plus the model in the picture in the website has the same wrinkles (its an allure dress 8365). I am literally freaking out. Like no where has dresses with zipper backs, or with pickups. I don't know what to do anymore, or where to go. If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it, because I am getting to the point that ever time I leave a place without a dress I burst out into tears. Please help me :(

why dont you ask burtons if they will order that dress for you? thats what i did and tons of girls have had nothing but great things to say about them

I wasn't crazy about that place, or the woman who helped me. It was like she couldn't be bothered, and they only had 3 dresses there of the style I want, but not the dress I want. And I'm still worried about these wrinkles, and stupid as that sounds.

If you're willing to go to Manhattan, check out RK Bridal. They have a large selection and great prices. Hope that helps! This won't help, but will make you feel better.... my wedding is actually before yours (less than 7 months away!), I started looking for a dress back in JULY!, and I still haven't found one either.

Search online for the dress and then go to a store that has that dress. That's how I found my dress. I got mine at Helen's Bridal. (Mine has pickups in it)

Thanks for the post. I was on their website before, and I think that might be the next place I check out. And that does make me feel a little better, lol.. I just feel like its getting so late and every checklist I look at tells me that I should have my dress ordered by now.. which is making this even more stressful! good luck to you to.

That's the problem, I found dresses online but no stores seem to carry them. I went to Helen's today, she only had 1 dress with a zipper back and pickups. but the lady was very nice and tried to help.

I'm freaking out too and my wedding is the week before yours and i can't find a dress either. So far i've gone to davids, bridal reflections massapequa, lillette's, estelle's dressy dresses, princess bridal, rk bridal in the city and i'm going to renate's in lindenhurst this weekend. I think i've narrowed it down to a few, but i want to be absolutely certain. these stores migth be able to help you. RK bridal in the city isn't far from Penn station- they were huge & very organized. it was easy to look through the dresses.
Beofre i went to the store i did a lot of homework on line and in magazines and checked out pictures. if you go to brides.com and click on wedding gowns, the top row gives you all the choices to help narrow down to the dess your looking for. you choose what style skirt, neckline, fabric, price, etc. I found that to be helpful too.

Well with all due respect to those that create the checklists, I say screw the lists!!! No sense in getting even more stressed out about this... TRUST ME! I have tried on over 200 dresses in about 25-30 different stores in LI, Manhattan, NJ and even one store in CT! So just try to keep calm, and keep looking for what you want, and you'll find a dress when you find one! That's what I keep telling myself anyway.

P.S. - You should really call RK Bridal, they will tell you over the phone if they have a particular dress in stock. Or, just take a train ride and go for it! They have tons of dresses and lots with pick-ups too! (I specifically don't want pick-ups so I know they have a lot with them, haha.)

thanks... yeah i have tons of pictures... just noone has whats in the pictures! and i think at this point the problem is that i know EXACTLY what i want, and unless thats it, i don't want it. this is so depressing that pretty soon im cancelling the wedding and going to city hall in my jeans! lol but good luck to you too!!!

yes, i know exactly what you mean about the attitude of the woman... she was rude to me too when i ordered my dress, but she gave me the best price so i said i'd deal with it its the type of place where if you know what gown you want, have them order it for a good price and thats it...

obviously you havent found the dress of your dreams yet.... seriously, go to RK bridal... if you cant find it in there, you prob wont

See if you can find a dress with a lace up back and make a zipper from it . (ex Victoriana from Maggie Sottero.) ,that dress is very nice. TryVillage Bridal in babylon I know they have a good selection of dresses.

I would try RK Bridal or the Wedding Plaza in Floral Park... the Wedding Plaza has a lot of Private Label dresses and a bunch of them sound like what you're describing (it's where I got mine too!) Good luck!

try kleinfelds too. they have a large selection.
i saw a bunch of dresses like the one you described on the maggie sottero website. but most have a corset lace up back....maybe you can alter that like someone suggested.
