I can't have trees...
We saw 4 florists, all very good and competitively priced. And I had this grandiose idea to have centerpieces made up like trees as I saw in many a thread. I am thinking, 'How expensive could they be? They probably are cheaper because you can't take them home.' WRONG. They were more expensive because they are labor intensive. The flowers ON the trees are the cheap part. But in order to make a centerpiece the way we want it would cost about $300+ dollars times 20 centerpieces. That isn't counting the chuppah, the bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, temple decorations, placecard table, our table, cake decorations and cocktail hour decorations.
So I am thinking hmm. You have to compromise. I decided that because of the height of the new ballroom at the temple to go with high centerpieces filled with colors of purples pinks and blues in a tall glass vase otherwise the room would be empty. I never thought I wanted high centerpieces but it really is the right thing to do here. The vase will be filled with those long skinny twig like things and those viney orchids. The twigs will also come from out of the top of the arrangements thus creating the natural tree-ish effect I was hoping for at a much cheaper price.
Here is a picture of my color scheme and a picture of the color the BP is wearing. My BP is wearing a navy/sapphire blue color. Keep in mind, the florist just grabbed a few flowers to show me color and that each of the centerpieces will have about 4 times the amount of flowers he is holding.
