i cant stand when you are asking someone a question and you know dam well they heard you and will still continue to say oh im sorry what was that? and they will then continue to answer the question before you repeat it. i think its just in their automatic vocab to say it even though they heard you

i think i know why people do this. when you first start asking the question... they have no interest because they dont think you're saying/asking anything important. but midway through.... they gain interest... so now they need to be reminded of the begining part.

i know a lot of people that do this, and this has been my conclussion on it
