I can't stand my friends sometimes

am i over reacting? One of my friends really doesn't know how to handle alcohol..she'll drink to an oblivion every time we go out...to the point where she picks fights with people and spills her drinks all over everyone..last night she spilled red wine all over my fh's white shirt!! its ridiculous..im just afraid that this is a preview to the wedding..if she gets anything on my dress or ruins my wedding i don't think i could ever speak to her again! and on top of that i have friends who left my birthday early last night..which annoyed me also..sorry just venting

aw i'm sorry they left early, defiantly not cool! .. with the girl who drinks to much, maybe ask the bartenders at your RH to cut her off early? or to not just single her out, say that if they think someone is really drunk to just cut them off early.

im so sorry.. but i agree.. not cut her off but maybe not make her drinks so strong...

we dont want anyone to get bad attention at ur wedding...

Tell the bartender to water down her drinks. She may still act drunk though (placebo effect). Sorry your friends packed it in early. I have to admit I do that sometimes too when I know my friend is with her BF, FH, or DH. (i say he will tuck her in and make my escape)

yeah I totally understand, Ive had a couple of these friends as well.. Its one thing to have a scene at a bar, because there used to it, but at a wedding is a wayyy different story

Awwww sorry that they left early, I still hoped YOU had a great time. I love my friends but sometimes they piss me off too, dont worry you are not the only one.

if you dont want her to feel as if she was singled out.... meaning.. if she is jsut cut off she may get angry/ upset with you or others around her...

if she drinks watered down drinks all night... she wont feel as if she was beign singled out.

this is something i never could understand. why get so drunk that you can't even function? i would definitely at some point at your wedding cut her off. if she gets that out of control she bound to do something that will embarrass herself and ultimately you. is she in the BP?

and not for nothing i would send her your FH's shirt that she ruined last night, she owes him a shirt.

sorry kristen. Maybe you should have an intervention and tell her she needs to learn her limit. We had to do that with a friend in college because she would never realize how drunk she was and she'd always insist on driving home, meanwhile, she wouldn't be able to walk properly. It's a tough situation but your friend can be putting herself in very dangerous situations getting that drunk and not realizing it. Definitely speak to her about it.

Sorry you are going through this. Understandably you don't want someone getting blind drunk at your wedding.

Is it possible she has a drinking problem? Have you talked with her about this on a global level, not just in the context of your wedding?

I could understand your friend drinking too much by mistake (you never really know how strong mixed drinks are unless you make them yourself). I've had 2 dirty martinis at one bar on a friend's birthday and was totally fine, but had 2 dirty martinis at a different bar on another occasion and....

If it's an every time thing it's a problem. Does your friend feel embarrassed at all? Maybe suggest she drink beer or wine instead? (less strong for the same volume of liquid, so ideally she'd get drunk slower). Also a better way to keep tabs on how much you are drinking.

You can also keep an eye on her or cut her off if needed, but you really shouldnt have to be her babysitter for the night...

I threw a potluck this summer that turned into a party and one of my coworkers got way too drunk. I don't know what he was thinking. We ended up pouring out his 'martini' and filling it with water instead. We didn't tell him, and he drank it + 'refills' for the rest of the night.

sorry that you are going through this.

i kind of have the same problem with FH friend. this guy doesn't know when to stopy & acts like an idiot. maybe its me because i am not a big drinker but i don't see the reason to drink THAT much.

i suggest just telling the bartender to water down her drinks. can you have a little heart to heart with her? i would appreciate it if one of friends told me i was acting like an idiot.
