I can't stop crying!

Original post by Emma2-22

My grandma died this morning.

It's so hard for me to accept this right now. I've always considered her my mom. She raised me from 2 months of age till I was 14 years old.

She died 8 days before my birthday. And she didn't make it to my wedding no matter how much I hoped and prayed that she would be able to see me walk down the aisle. I used to daydream of the day that I could sit with my granny while she held my baby and sang to it like she did to me when I was little. Now it's all gone. It all seems so surreal, I just can't stop crying. Everytime I stop crying I think of something else she did for me or something else I wanted to experience with her and I start all over again.

I am soooo sorry. I will keep your grandmother and family in my prayers. Just remember, even though she will not physically be at you wedding she will still be there in spirit, memory and in your heart.

Re: I can't stop crying!

I lost my grandmother in Dec and then my Nanny in March (almost 4 years ago) so I KNOW what you are feeling I was very, very close to them.
Here is some of what I have learned that I hope might help you at some point in the future.
-the pain doesn't go away or fade, it just becames more bearable
-you will miss her everyday forever, but somedays you will smile instead of cry
-make sure you have something of her's on your wedding day. it makes all the difference.
-put a photo of her on your dresser when you are getting ready and make sure the photographer takes a few photo of you near the photo- NOT a posed photo but rather a room shot, or while you are doing something near the photo. I love these photos i have.
-do not make your ceremony sad by leaving a chair empty or sanging a poem for her. you know she isn't physically there in the room/church, do not make it your total focus for even a few minutes because it will honestly not be something to easily get past.
-know in your heart that she continues to love you. nothing, not even death, can change that.
-cry when you have to, smile when you can

I hope some of this can help you.
