Last year he and his friends had a trip to vegas they had talked about for a while then when it was time to book it Fh said he couldn't go because it was before our e-party so we had that expense plus we had just booked our hall and had to give money there, and he was so sad about it...I felt bad and i contacted his friends and said that for x-mas im gonna give him the trip as a gift, and to book the room for him too and ill get the plane ticket and give them the money for the room. Ok well a few days before x-mas Fh thinks he figures out a way to go so of course im like NOOOOOO you can't go and to just get over it...he got mad at how i said it and thought i was trying to tell him what to do so we got into a fight and then i finally blurt out, ok a**hole wanna know what a b*tch i am, i booked the trip for you thats why i said you cant go...so never got to really surprise him with it.
Then even for other gifts and his birthday i bought clothes and then i see him online about to buy the same thing and i have to say not to buy it and he gets the point now. Or at the store he'll try to buy what i already got him and i just make a face now like AHHHH you're the worst.
Then this week i decided i would get him a massage at a spa bc hes been working for 13 days straight(including weekends) but bc of his schedule right now i was like oh what weekend are you free, trying to figure it out...He kept asking why i said dont worry about it, he looks at me and says 'its for a massage isn't it' hes like well ive been physically exhausted from all the working so its easy to figure out. But he does this with everything, he realizes what i want to do
Sorry for my long pointless thread, its just so annoying, i want to surprise him for ONCE.

OMG I have the same problem! FH has ruined every xmas and bday gift since we have been together. He always trys to buy what I have already gotten him, which turns into some sort of argument when I try to talk him out of it, which ends in me blurting out 'because I got it for you already you @ss'. *sigh*. After last year, I told him from now on, he is just not allowed to buy anything for himself from Thanksgiving until his Bday (which is 2 days after xmas)

LMAO isnt it funny bc you picture giving them the gift and them being all happy, but you never picture them finding out by having to yell at them 'YOU A** i bought it for you' lol....yeah that seems like a great idea and definitely gonna be a new rule of mine which i know will be impossible for him to do lol

i have the same problem with fh.... it usually ends with a similar fight you spoke of where i have to blurt out the surprise so he doesnt storm away.... latest is our best man and moh were planning day trip for engagement party for us either to mehegan sun or AC, and i was fishing for dates and he got so mad because of his unsteady hours with work.... so i had to tell him...

I finally surprised him for his birthday this year after 6 years together. You'll get him one of these days. Its just gonna have to be something he mentions MONTHS before and forgets about.

he doesnt even do it on purpose most of the time...He just happens to want to buy something I already got him...Or with the vegas trip he REALLY wanted to go and was about to go buy tickets so i tried to stop him by reminding him about the expenses we had coming up and for him to think logically but when hes in the moment and wants something forget it
