I have never been to a shower with assigned seating... I didnt do it for my sis .. so not sure. But I like the pic!

Thanks, Gabriela!!!!! Appreciate your reply!!!!! Do you mean the pic at top? I probably should have made that the one with guest name, as a third choice in my other poll thread. Mary MOB

Re: I could use an answer ASAP!!!

I think either way it would work. It also depends on where the shower is. Like if its at someones house, I dont think assigned seating would work but a restuarant shower I think assigned seating is approp.

Do what you think works:)

Re: I could use an answer ASAP!!!

Mary I like the Donna & Josh kissing design!

Also-what if you only did assigned seating for the bridal party and immediate family...

So for instance ou could have 3 tables set aside, 1 for bridesmaids, 1 for your immediate family, 1 for Josh's immediate family. Then everyone else would be on there own.
Or........
Even if you didn't do placecards, what if you did table names?

Tables named Bridesmaids, Mother of the Bride, Mother of the Groom, The friends table, the work table, etc...Just another option I think..

Jen, thanks so much!!!! I really appreciate your ideas!!!!!! I plan to have two tables together for Donna and her BM's. Three can sit at a table, so I could push some together for the other guests as well, to make it work. Mary MOB

Re: I could use an answer ASAP!!!

I have been to both, well not with assigned seating but with table assignments. I really don't like assigned seating because I think a lot of the point of the shower is for people to mingle and get to talking, to meet family members from the other family, to talk to the bms. When you are assigned to a seat you tend to stay there.

At my friends, when I was a bm, my mom was all upset because she was stuck at a table with the few people she knew already instead of having the opportunity to meet other people.

I like them when they are more casual and laid back.

Re: I could use an answer ASAP!!!

By the way, if you do want to do table assignments without knowing people here is a suggestion....

at my grandfathers 70th birthday party, many years ago... my uncle did it by colors. He had one color for immediate family, one color for extended family, one color for his work friends and one for personal friends. Each area was marked by colored balloons and every guest got a card with a color corresponding to their seating area. So instead of having an assigned table you had to sit at your color. So for example, as an immediate family member I could sit at one of the two tables marked with red balloons, but if I wanted to sit with my parents or my first cousins, that would be up to me.

It worked well.

Re: Showers. Who has been to or has had/will have assigned seating? I was making menus, putting each guest's name on the front, but I don't want to offend anyone, making them sit where they don't want. It's just that I tried some other ideas, for the front of my DIY menus, and the name one looked nice. Thanks!!!! Mary MOB

Hi Mary, we had assigned seating at both Rosanna's and at Nina's shower. People usually don't mind (I know it doesn't bother me).
I think the idea of the personalized menu is great and I really do not think anyone will be offended. How could they with you being such a wonderful person!

Every shower I have ever been to has had assigned seating except for one and let me tell you..the one that didn't have assigned seating was a disaster.

I think it is much easier if you just assign the seats and put people with who you know they would want to be with.

Me Too! mine was seating arrangements... and I agree!
