so saturday i went to a wedding on staten island ( i will have pics this weekend) and it was by far the most amazing, and fun wedding i have ever been to...she was the most beautiful bride i have ever seen and the bridal party looked amazing too! there was not one thing that i wouldve changed if i was her......and it gets me thinking ....am i really having my dream wedding???? im sooo scared that this DW was a bad idea because it is not gonna be like how i dreamt my wedding would be ...my Fh keep reassuring me that we made the right decision but i cannot stop crying about ...that wedding staurday was exactly how i pictured mine ...but im afraid that mine is going to be a mess because i am not there to pan it ...plus who know who's coming or who's not coming ...i wish i just had some money to have our wedding here and i wouldnt have to worry about this
should i push back the wedding and ty to save money ??? i already sent out the STD's though ...ohh i dont know what to do

Hi Kim,
I can totally relate to you.. FH and I always wanted a DW but then we went to an affair and that is where it all changed. I realized that I would be missing out on a wonderful wedding if i did not have it here. I was afraid that the family and friends that I would like to have there wouldn't make it. So that is why we are now having a Jan 08 wedding here on long island.

you have to have the wedding that you want - no matter what. . . BUT you may want a bunch of different things. I mean, I look at weddings and I LOVE some of the stuff. . . but then I think that I wouldnt like to do it myself. . .
I dont know if I am making sense - i will give you an example. When i pictured my wedding I pictured FANFARE - i mean pulling up in a horsedrawn carriage, trumpets, red carpets EVERYTHING - and i LOVE weddings with all that extra!!
BUT that is just not me!! like i would pay all that money for all that stuff and then hide my face behind my bo-k. FH and i are super shy and hate being the center of attention. . . so while i love the IDEA of it - it just wouldnt be me!
OR summer weddings, I LOVE the bright colors and the flowers and the whole beach theme - BUT i am a winter baby, and winter is just my season. . .
so while you may LOVE a million weddings - that doesnt necessarily mean you are making the wrong choice. we are ALL unsure of ourselves - this is our first wedding! ( for most of us anyway) and everyone is clueless!
However, if you really cant stop thinking about it for weeks and weeks - it is not too late to reconsider. . . but i think that it is mostly just that uncertainty creeping in!

KIM-YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. ARUBA IS BEAUTIFUL, AND I SPOKE TO SOMEONE ON OUR PLANE ABOUT HER WEDDING AND SHE ABSOLUTELY SAID IT WAS THE BEST DECISION EVER! SHE LOOKED LIKE SHE HAD AN AMAZING WEDDING--HER PICTURES WERE FABULOUS, AND I KNOW THAT YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A GREAT TIME. DON'T WORRY! I know Aruba is beautiful im just worried that the wedding is not gonna be like how i imagined ..like the DJ and the florist and the photographer ....i just dont think its gonna be the quality that i want ..i know im prob overreacting but this is the most special day in our lives plus veryone keeps telling me that i cant get the poofy sparkley wedding dress and my girls should have short dresses...i want poof !!! and i want my girls in long dresses ...i would love it to be the same way as a regular wedding just on the beach

my best friend plans on getting married on the 4th of july on the beach and we will all wear the poofy dresses....you can wear whatever you want when you want...to me there is something so cool about doing the whole dress up poof and long dresses and all on the beach w/o shoes

Don't worry the girl on our my plane had a HUGE dress--she carried it in an enormous plastic bag. . .the girls had t-length dresses which were a pale yellow (very pretty!). Are you getting married in a church? The church was all pure white. . .and a long aisle with tropical flowers draped everywhere.--picturesque!

Kim, Either way, just know that whatever you choose, your wedding day is going to be beautiful and special. You and Steve should sit down and make a list of pros and cons to having your original DW vs. having a wedding at home. Your wedding is for the two of you and you should do whatever makes you happy. Hang in there girlie!

Why can't you still have that??? Because someone is telling you you can't?? Kim, if you want to have a naked wedding, than so be it! If people insist on throwing in their 2 cents, than just nod and smile but don't take it to heart... in the end, what they say doesn't matter. I work with a girl who had a DW in the bahamas and did the poofy dress.... you'd be fine.

Hey Kim -
Why did you decide to do a DW in the first place? Is that what you wanted in your heart when you started planning? I say you should go with your gut feeling. Don't redo your entire day if you really want a DW.
As for your dress, etc, you do EXACTLY what you want. You want glitz and poof, you do it!!! Thats crapola that people can dictate what YOU are going to wear for YOUR wedding day.
I'd be willing to bet the ranch (I never really understood that saying), that you will NOT regret doing a DW. Its going to be beautiful, unique, and you're marrying your fh! I guarantee it will be the best day of your life!

thanks girls ...i talked to my mom also and she reassured me that evreything will be okay ( sometimes u need to hear it from mommy)...i was just stressing because i have never been there and im afraid that the food will taste bad and the dj will suck...im just emotional...aunt flo is comin ...lol

You cannot compare yourself to other people. Someone will ALWAYS have more, bigger, better, newer, cleaner, more expensive whatever! You have to be happy with you and with what you have.
You will have a beautiful wedding just the way you planned it!!!
