I am really upset today, I did not get accepted into Hofstra Law School. I don't know why, I know I had the decent grades to get in, well maybe my LSAT score wasn't so good (150) but I thought they looked at more than that!!! I only applied to Hofstra and St. Johns, but I feel that if Hofstra did not take me, then neither will St. Johns. I didn't really look up that many schools while I was applying and I came across CUNY law school and Touro Law, they seem like good schools and I still have time to apply to both. Cuny's deadline is 3/14 and Touro is 5/1 to be considered priority. I just wanted to know if anyone had graduated from any one of these two schools, their experiences, how these schools rank compared to others in the area. Overall, whether they think the schools are good. I know I am asking for alot, but if anyone has any info, I would deeply appreciate it. Thanks

Re: I didn't get in!!!
Just wanted to say good luck. From what I've heard, law school and grad school applicants have been on the rise in the past few years, so maybe that had something to do with it. It will work out for you!!

Re: I didn't get in!!!
For some reason I want to say that Rob-luvs-me graduated from Touro Law.
There was a thread a month or two ago on where people graduated and I know I saw that school.
Applicants should submit application materials before April 1 to receive priority consideration. We cannot guarantee available space in the first-year law class beyond this date.

Sorry you didn't get in. Two friends on mine also did not get in to Hofstra. They now go to Tuoro. FM me with any specific questions and I will ask them for you.

Re: I didn't get in!!!
Gaby, so sorry to hear that. Definitely check out CUNY - a colleague (and future partner of mine) here went there. It really doesn't matter what school you go to - it's not an indication of what kind of lawyer you'll be, and with the job market the way it is, the competition is fierce no matter from where you graduated. Plus, the added bonus of CUNY is that you pay far less and have far less debt than many of the other private schools.
St. John's may still very well accept you. It's also a good school and I know other successful attorneys who graduated from there. I almost wound up there, myself.
Bottom line - if you graduate law school and pass the bar, you're as much of a lawyer as the top graduate at Harvard.
Good luck!

Re: I didn't get in!!!
Thank you everyone!!! I will apply to Touro and CUNY (and still have to wait for St.Johns reply) and see what happens. I think that no matter what school I go to, I will be the only one to make my experience a positive or negative one!!!! what matters to me is maintaining good grades, being able to learn, and most importantly, to be able to pass the Bar exam on the first try!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know that it is important to go to a 'good school' and that it would probably enable me to have better job opportunities, but a JD is a JD and as long as I am able to practice law and make a difference that is what is important to me. I also feel that some schools have their hits and misses, for example I was looking at the Touro website and have found that they have a pretty good Internationa and Publice Interest law program, which are the two possiblities I am looking into. Hofstra didn't really offer too many options in International Law, well, at least according to what I researched. So I guess these things happen for a reason. Maybe I will get a better experience at another school. Once again, thanks everyone for your words of encouragment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: I didn't get in!!!
Gaby, I happen to know that Touro is big on Public Interest law because we get a lot of interns from Touro in my (public interest) office.
