I DO letter painting question!!

If you painted them white, how many coats did you need to hide the wood grains? I've done 4 coats so far and they are still showing through? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

For those of you that did your slipper baskets, did you put a sign on the basket or anything? I was just planning on tying a ribbon aroun the basket. Is it necessary that I label the slippers somehow or put them in a bag or something? I already arranged them in the basket and it looks good.

I am going to put a card on the basket itself with the instructions or slipper poem.

I put the slippers in white organza bags and then tied them again with a ribbon and a tag that has our monogram on it.

I did about 2 base coats of white before I couldn't see the grains anymore. But I only left the ends and back white, I did the top in lilac and the trim in silver. Does it look bad grainy??

I don't think I'm going to put a sign, just have the MC announce that they're there and what they're for. But each one is wrapped in white tissue paper with a lil tag that says 'A little treat for your tired feet' with the size and color of the slippers. If you've already got them arranged them leave them, I think a ribbon would look real pretty around the basket!! We don't have a basket yet, but this is what the slippers look like wrapped.

Not horrible, but not good. Two letters are okay, but the D has very dark grains that I didn't notice on the inner edges.

I might use sandpaper to buff off any rough parts and put another two coats.
