i don't get people... vent

since dh and i went on our honeymoon the day after we got 'hitched', there were some details that were left for 'later.'

so, this evening, i'm going through cards and envelopes (we only got 4 boxes at the wedding, everything else was $$ in the photocube) to make sure i'm ready for ty cards when the time comes.

so far, so good. i used my original invitation excel spreadsheat to keep track, filling in fields of who gave what.

here is where i got 'not-so-happy'.... my dear new sister-in-law (whose husband bailed on playing at our wedding) DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER GIVING HER LITTLE BROTHER A 'CONGRATS' GREETING CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE???!!!! don't get me wrong... i don't want or need their money... thank God. but i just don't get it... people who weren't able to make our wedding sent us gifts with lovely cards with lovely notes. THIS IS MY DH'S SISTER... NOT A STRANGER!!!! she didn't even bother to go to hallmark and get a $.99 card to say congrats.

because of what her husband did, we had and extra $2100 bill. he told dh that he would come to the wedding... he didn't. so i paid another $125 for his plate that no one was there to eat. AND THEN HIS SISTER DOESN'T EVEN GET A PIECE OF CARDSTOCK, FOLD IT, AND WRITE CONGRATS.

i have a few friends who don't have much/anything, and they were able to get their a$$ to hallmark and get us a card.

ok. i feel better to get this off my chest.

We couldn't believe that either of our sisters didn't give us ANYTHING, even a card. Boy were we surprised a month or two later when their gifts came!!!!!! We were ashamed!!!!!

i hope this happens to us... for dh's sake. he's heartbroken that his sister didn't even give a home-made card.

Why. Why could she not have even gotten a card? The nerve of some people.

That's what I was thinking. People often give gifts up to 6 months after the wedding... I wouldn't rule it out just yet. (Though it's odd, and you'd expect family to give a gift right away... they may surprise you later on!)

that's where my aggrivation comes from... they think they're doing this to ME, but they are hurting HIM. he's doing his best to just move on, but he did fess up that he's really hurt by this entire sh!t.

and to speak from my gut.... i DOUBT they will surprise us with a gift EVER.

I'm sort of in the same boat as you!! My FSIL didn't even bother giving us a card at our engagement party to congratulate us either!! After my parents paid for a gorgeous dinner party, she just showed up.
Now we weren't expecting gifts, but a card would have been FINE!!! After going through our cards/gifts later on that evening (which BTW I knew should would do something like this) I said, 'Hmmmm your sister was the ONLY one who didn't give us a card!!' She hasn't acknowledged it at all. She stinks!! She's his older sister too by 2 years. You'd think a 16 year old would do something like that because they don't even know better and yet that's still not an excuse!!!

is he close with his sister? im guessing not ...but either way she should of gotten atelast a card or make one!

my DH's sister didn't even give us a card either. i'm sure we'll be required to give her $$$$$...BS.

because of the whole 'band' issue.

i'll do my best to keep it short.... dh's bil plays bass. his band was to play at our wedding. he pulled out SIX days b4 the wedding because he said that i 'put too many restrictions on the band.' so for the week b4 my wedding i was the bridezilla from hell.

turns out, dh and bil were the two who weren't comminucating properly. they 'supposedly' worked things out. but bil, STILL is a jerk and his wife (and kids) are following his lead

trust me - i KNOW exactly!!! i even said that they could have had one of the kids make a card out of paper and crayons (the girl is 10 and the boy is 12), stuff they have at home. it's just the THOUGHT!!!! they didn't even bother. i know what you mean. i'll just take it as something that i will NEVER forget. karma is a biaatch - i have seen this. it will come back around.
