I posted the other day my dress was being altered in a bridal store that had a fire. My dress was 'saved' but smells like smoke .So I waited 2 hrs to try it on and the 2 hours i was waiting to see it, i think she was altering it ( even though she assured me it was done). I don't know what to do , someone told me it's impossible to get the smell out . So do i settle and wear it or get a new one and file an insurance claim (88btw its only 22 days b4 my wedding)???? I don't want to smell like smoke on my wedding day but i hate that she lied to me and said it was fine and done! Am i so unreasonable ? Yes i am greatful i still have a dress but not one that smells like a bbq! Help me please!!!!!

I thought I read that she was paying to have them drycleaned? Either way, I would say you should bring it to the drycleaner and see what they say. Possibly, leave in hanging with the windows open for a few hours?

agreed. Take it to get dry cleaned first before making any decisions.

She said she is going to try to clean it but I hate that she tells me it doesn't smell when it clearly does. I am going to wait until she cleans it before i do anything irrational.

hang in there until its cleaned, then make your decision. i dont see why you wouldnt be able to get the smell out. when you go to a BBQ/campfire and come home smelling like a fire, and wash your clothes the smell comes out right?

Im so sorry about this.
I think you need to think about a plan B. IMHO I 'hear' all the time that smoke froma fire is almost impossable to get out. I dont want you to freak out but there is a good chance the smell wont come out after dry cleaning.
I would call round to some salons and see if they have your dress as a sample.....or see who can help you in the next 20 days.
I dont want to see you waste precious time you coulod be looking for a new dress.
Yes, Have it cleaned. But ALSO start making some calls.

wow really horrible to hear this is happening to you i would deifinitely be upset at this i dont know smoke smell not soo hard to get out id find another dress i know its hard and besides id feel like she ways lying to be by telling me that it was altered already and it wasnt

Thanks I appreciate your honesty . My best friends hubby owned a dry cleaners and he told me the same thing Its hard to get the smell out. I'm trying to be optomistic and hope it comes out . Thanks again!
