I don't know which one to make.Help!

Here's another way, although I don't remember using VANILLA pudding, I've always used CHOCOLATE!

Dirt Dessert

2 small packages of vanilla instant pudding mix
4 cups of cold milk
1 large container of frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 - 6 ounce package of miniature chocolate chips
1 large package of Oreo cookies, crushed to crumb consistency
Gummi worms
1 child's sand bucket and shovel, cleaned thoroughly

Mix the pudding according to package directions.
Allow it to set for a few minutes, fold in the whipped topping and chocolate crumbs.
Put half of the pudding mixture in bottom of the sand bucket.
Top with half of the cookie crumbs.
Layer with the remainder of the pudding and then the rest of the cookie crumbs.
Top with the Gummi worms, chill.
Use a shovel to serve.
Variation: To make individual servings, layer the pudding mixture and cookie crumbs into plastic cups.
Use the pipe cleaners for the handles and plastic spoons for the shovels.

8 to 10 (7-oz.) paper or plastic cups

Gummy worms or other gummy candies for garnish

Preparation
CRUSH cookies in zipper-style plastic bag with rolling pin or in food processor.

That's called 'Dirt Cake' Really easy to make. You need to have large mixing bowls because as you mix the ingredients together is sorta puffs up.

Ingredients
1 16 oz. Package of Oreo Cookies
½ cup Butter or Margarine (softened)
1 8 oz. Package of Cream Cheese (softened)
1 cup of Confectioner’s (Powdered) Sugar
1 teaspoon of Vanilla
2 packages of Vanilla Instant Pudding
3 cups of Milk
1 12 oz. tub Cool Whip Topping (thawed)

Directions:
Finely crush the Oreo cookies until the mixture resembles dirt and then set it aside. Cream the butter/margarine, cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla until they are smooth and fluffy. Set aside. Combine the pudding mix and milk until well-blended and then fold in the Cool Whip. Gently fold the cream cheese and pudding mixtures together. Fold in ½ of the crushed Oreo cookies leaving ½ for the top. Refrigerate for 10 - 12 hours before serving. Serves 10 to 12.

Decorations:
For a bit of whimsy, serve your dessert in a clean plastic or terra cotta flowerpot. (If you use a terra cotta pot, line the pot with foil or place a plastic bowl inside to hold the mixture.)
Stick an artificial flower in the middle of the pot and for extra fun, stick some “gummy” worms (candy) halfway into the mixture to make it appear as if worms were crawling out of the dirt.

It comes out as a pudding / mousse type dessert so you need small dessert bowls for it. It is delicious!

I don't know which one to make. I went to a party about a year ago and they had this delicious oreo pudding dessert but there are so many variations to the recipe, I don't know which to make.

Re: I don't know which one to make.Help!

I don't want to use a shovel and flowerpot.
I don't want to use gummy candy either.I just want to make a nice big bowl of the dessert with the pudding and the oreos.

februarybride, you said you love dirt.Which recipe do you make?

Re: I don't know which one to make.Help!

Here's the recipe for the one I always make!
1 large package of Single Stuff Oreos (Double Stuff Doesn't turn out as well)
1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
3 Tbs. Butter or margarine, softened
2 (3½ oz.) boxes instant French-Vanilla pudding
Make sure you buy Instant pudding.
3 cups milk (whole works better than 2%)
1 (16 oz.) carton whipped topping (I use Cool Whip)

Move the cookies to a plastic ziplock back and use a mallet, your hands, or a rolling pin to crush. Set aside.
Combine cream cheese and margarine. Set aside. Beat pudding mix and milk - mix well. Combine pudding and cream cheese mixtures. Fold in whipped topping. NOTE: I usually mix all of this in the same bowl (much cleaner that way) and it turns out fine. An electric mixer is a must though! NOTE: It seems watery when you're done making it...but it fluffs up in the fridge while you're chilling it.

1.) In a large bowl put a layer of crushed Oreos on the bottom (save enough Oreos for two more larger layers).
2.) Pour a little less than half of the creamed mixture over the Oreos.
3.) Put another layer of crushed Oreos on saving enough for one last layer.
4.) Pour the remaining creamed mixture over the Oreos.
5.) Put on the final layer of crushed Oreos.
6.) Chill in fridge for at least an hour or so...but overnight is best if possible.
IT's delicious

Re: I don't know which one to make.Help!

Thanks. Is single stuff oreos the normal oreos?

februarybride Posted:

Re: I don't know which one to make.Help!

Yes single stuff are the regular oreos...
I don't usually crush them too fine I like little chunks. Let us know how it goes!

Edited to add: Make sure the butter and cream cheese are really soft -- leave them out for a while cause if you don't you'll get small chunks in your pudding.

Sorry if I'm being too detailed. The first few times I made this I made so many mistakes!!
