I don't know if it's just me... but it makes me uncomfortable when other people who know I'm PG walk up to me and call me 'Mommy'. I'm not THEIR mommy so why are they calling me that???
Today one of my co-workers (a guy!) replied to one of my emails and in the greeting wrote:
Sandra (Mommy),
It was weird. Anyone else?

I get that all the time esp with people at work- I feel like it sounds really weird- Some people dont know how to act around preggos and also I always have people saying things to me like ' Oh let the pregnant lady come thru first or here comes the pregnant lady! '

Luckily, I haven't experienced this yet and I don't think that I want to. DH calls my Mommy and that's absolutely fine, but I wouldn't want somebody else calling me that!

I don't know if I would appreciate it from a stranger or someone I'm not overly familiar with but I use it towards my friends who are PG as a term of endearment, like 'hey momma or hey mommy!'. I don't mean anything deragatory by it.

I LOVED It when I was preggo and ANYONE called me mommy! and I love it now.. Its the best 'title' Ive ever had, and I answer to it proudly Maybe it'll take getting used to, but you'll love it in noo time, once that little one is in your life!

Hey. don't worry you have a honeymoon baby you are probably still getting used to being called 'Mrs. Jimmysbride' a young women can only take so many new titles at once!
You'll probably reach a point towards that end that you'll like it.. right now it's still kind of scary... for me I didn't like being called it by others because I was so terrfied that if I liked it I would loose the baby and it would just crush me but with every kick to my rib I'm getting alot more used to the title!

I dont remember minding when I was preggo but my old pediatricians office use to call me Mommy. Im assuming they did that with all the Moms - they'd say 'That's $15 for todays visit Mommy' or 'Do you want to make another appt today Mommy' I found that kind of silly...I felt like saying just call me Mrs. ____ or nothing...why do you have to call me Mommy?
