I don't think I'm being too sensitive about this....

Original post by stacey&paul

Oh The DRAMA!!!

I swear, it never ends. My FMIL bought or is going to buy her dress at a thrift store!!! Can you imagine?! On top of that she says it's biege!!!!! Ok, so maybe I wouldn't have a problem with beige if it weren't from a thrift store, but come on! It's not like the FILs are broke considering they take a vacation (like a cruise or a trip to Italy or to Vegas etc) every month! I can't help but feel like this isn't an important event for either of them. Don't get me wrong, I would understand if they just didnt have the means, but they do! I mean how's that going to look in the pictures? And then my mom tells me she doesnt even think my FMIL is going to wear a gown...I'm sorry if I sound like a b****, but I cant help it. It's not like they're even contributing to the wedding that they would have to skimp out on their attire. Is there any way to suggest to FMIL or to FH that she might want to get a little more dressed up considering it's a formal affair? I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but I cant help but feel like this needs to be addressed. Am I being unreasonable and selfish? How would you feel?

My MIL told me she does not feel comfortable in a dress so she is going to wear a pants suit. I told her 'wear what you want, I want you to be confortable' I do not care about things like that, am I crazy ??

No I guess I just am. I expected some posts like this. I guess you are just not understanding what I am picturing in my head. Maybe if you met my FMIL you'd understand. I'm sorry if I insulted anyone. It wasn't my intention.

Maybe she wanted a really nice dress but couldn't afford it so she went to a thrift store in a ritzy area!

No. That's not the case, but thanks. But I do think I am overreacting. It'll be ok.

Honestly, if she wants to look like a clown, let her! Shes the one whos going to look bad and you and everyone else will look gorgeous!

I doubt anyone would wear something they dont think they look good in. Maybe she really found and amazing deal, a beautiful dress, or outfit.. who knows..

Either way, you shouldnt worry about it. There are much BIGGER things to think of.

Honestly, if anyone looks foolish, it will be her. Don't even think about it- there's too much else for you to worry about. The girls are right- let her wear what she'll wear.

I guess I am a minority on here but, I have never seen a nice dress at a thrift
store. Me and Fh always go to one to by our Halloween costumes. I would totally understand if your FMIL had no money and this is all she could afford, but come on. She can't go to JC penny's or Sears. I mean, JC penny's has some nice dresses for not that much. I have never heard of anyone shopping at a thrift store for a wedding. NOt even people I know with very little money.

The only one who will look bad is her, don't worry about it. She must have issues, and not care about looking good for her sons special day. I think the FMIL is a very important part in a wedding. Almost as important as the MOB. It is her child getting married too.

That's exactly why I got so upset about it! I think she is important in the wedding too!! And I've never seen a nice dress in a thrift store either. I know exactly which one she is going to. The Salvation Army store. She is not poor, that's what bugs me and especially that it's her sons wedding. I mean can't we splurge for a special occasion once in a while? Thank you for clarifying. I was beginning to feel like a snot! I won't worry anymore, though. Because really, what can I do? Maybe by some chance it will be nice....

Oh well, I tried! Just remember that everyone will be focused on YOU so they won't be paying attention to anyone else!
