I would suggest having a registry. Some people will buy you presents whether or not you have a registry, so if you don't register you will get alot of really random stuff (and you won't know where to return it!).

You can register for gift cards, and many registries (BBB) let you return items for cash!

I didn't want one either. We already live together and have everything we need or if we want it, we go out and buy it. But everyone was nagging me to death to do one for our e-party next month. So I did a really small one, so when everything is gone, nothing left but cash to give.

You should really register for a few things. If you don't, people will still get you gifts, but it will be things that you don't want. Try registering at BB&B. I hear that you can return anything from your registry for cash.

We need money as well due to the fact that we've lived together for the past 6 years and we have EVERYTHING! I did a registry but it's very limited. I am hoping that when the small amount of gifts off the registry are gone, our guests will give us cash.

Definately do a registry of some sort. People do not like to give $ for showers and if you dont register for stuff that you like, your guests are going to get you whatever they like!

You can be creative, they have websites where you can registar your honeymoon and then people would pay for your honeymoon, I think this is the coolest thing

I agree - definatly do a registry, even if its only for a few things. You could always register for 'upgrades', i.e. cooking equitment from Williams Sonoma....

Since this is NY, most people will probably give you cash anyway...

maybe you could register at Crate adn Barrel. i'm not sure about their policy but i think you could return things w/o the reciept and they'll issue you a check in the mail. make sure you bring several (if not all) together to make the transaction. i used to work for Banana Republic and they had a policy where you could return things for not only store credit but also a check which you'll recieve in the mail within 3-4wks. reason why i say you should bring all your merchandise togther instead of one by one is because BR will only issue 3 check total to you. if you happen to have the need to do it more than 3 times.. you're screwed. call or go into crate and barrel's dot com or any store you prefer and ask if they have that similar policy. this is one way of getting cash.

We are having only one registry at that is at Libery Travel to help with the honeymoon. I am in the same boat as most of you, we already live together and have all the necessities.

i'm in the same boat - FH and I already live together so we don't need that much stuff. We did one store registry for 'upgrades' but i recently cut the list WAY down. Someone gave me that idea - figuring that then people will give cash.

But, I also want some help paying for the HM so I did a HM registry. Those work great because people think they're giving you a hotel night or whatever but in reality you're getting cash.

We didn't really want one either, although I did register for a bunch of items at BB&B. For our shower, everyone was told where we registered and also that Home Depot gift cards would be appreciated (we live in an old house that needs lots of work). Most of the guests at the shower got us the Home Depot cards (which DH promptly spent!).

I only have one registry - I really recommend it. It makes things so much easier for the gift givers and it let's you decide what you want...instead of having useless items, you'll get mainly things that you actually want!

We have most of our stuff, so we did the honeymoon registry, too. You can register for WHEREVER you're going. Basically, you pay for everything, and your guests 'reimburse' you what you paid. This way, you ARE getting the $$, but your guests feel better for giving you something specific that you can enjoy on your honeymoon. e.g., I registered for swimming with the dolphins in Disney World. So, instead of guests giving me boring $, they'll give you a certificate entitling you to a 'morning of swimming with the dolphins!' - and you'll really get the 150 or 300 or however much you designate for this item in your registry. I used honeyluna.com. It's GREAT!

I agree. Register at one store and for the Necessities....pots-n-pans, towels, bedding, luggage -- things like that.

And if you want, register at one of those locations where you can register for your Honeymoon.

I would register... people might just give you random gifts for your shower then. I've never really seen anyone give $ at a shower at least
