I don't want nice but I want honest- about my centerpieces
I am thinking of making these for my wedding but I am starting to think they are tacky. I need honest opinions from girls who I don't chat with everyday. I promise not to be offended- PROMISE!!! And yes, I have a lighthouse theme.
Re: I don't want nice but I want honest- about my centerpieces
i voted for cute, but i think its really pretty. i don't think it looks homeade, but the only other option was tacky, and i don't think its tacky.

I voted I love it. Because its non traditional and unique. FH and I have been going to every extreme to throw in personal touches to have our wedding stand out.
I think the CP is great. Im not sure if your theme is lighthouse, or the beach, but I would imagine its got to be something along those lines! Good job!

If you are having a beach/lighthouse theme then they r perfect. very original idea i think. if it doesn't match your theme (if u have one), then I would try something else. however, not tacky at all.

I like it, especially if you are going for a theme. Maybe take away the colored beads around it. I think it takes away from the theme and makes it look a little busy. Maybe move some shells closer to the light house to take up that room.
Good Luck and I think it looks fine the way it is, but you were looking for suggestions!

I am not a huge fan of them so I voted for tacky...I don't think they are very tacky but I just don't see 'wedding' when I look at them.
JMHO!
Good luck!

Yea for a fellow USMMA bride!
I don't think they are tacky at all. I did see lighthouse centerpieces with a votie or two inside so the lighthouse glowed. They had small flowers (all one nuetral type color) around the outside of the lighthouse and it looked wonderful.

i went to fort schuyler for college. we had a huge party this march and the lighthouse centerpiece was it. the party was held at chelsea pier.
i honestly really like the centerpiece. it looked alot like what you have pictured. as a mariner, i really enjoyed the cp. i think its a different and cute alternative to the typical flowers.

Ok def do not think it is home made, i love love the san and everything around the light house but i am not crazy about the light house. But thats just my opinion I love evrything else, its so cool and different. I am having a beach theme wedding and want to put sand on my tables but I heard i need permission from the hall

I don't think it's tacky, but to be honest, I just don't like them.

Does it matter if it looks homemade? There was a time when people took pride in that! If you like it, and it goes with your theme...I say go for it! Flowers die this will last forever!

I saw them set up in captain bill's for a wedding. I think they make the wedding much more casual. If you are doing an afternoon casual wedding then go for it. I would choose some other option for nautical/beach for a formal night wedding. Maybe a hurricane glass with sand and a votice and flowers around the base. JMO

You guys don't know how much I appreciate your advice. Some of the concerns you brought up have been bothering me.
So here is my idea- I don't want to get rid of the lighthouses all together since it is my theme but I would like to make them more formal. How about just surrounding them with a flower ring and votive candles? It is a formal nighttime wedding.
TIA for all of your help!!!

What if you used white votives instead of the burgendy/blue color and maybe a more delicate glass votive holder... those look a bit thick...

I don't think it is a very wedding-ish centerpiece-- I get the theme and all-- marines, summer motif, but maybe if you do fishbowl with flowers, or flowers with sand and shells-- blue/ white tablecloths? It is really cool though, but for another type of party.

I wish I could do something that simple but my SIL did something similar for wedding. I am trying to stay in a nautical theme without copying what she did! And I really don't want just flower centerpiece.
Thanks for all the ideas and keep them coming!

I think they are very cute and different but maybe instead of using them as a centerpiece on each table, you can use them as decoration for the cocktail hour, or on the place card table, or something like that so you can still get the formal look you want, but the very cute lighthouses as well!
