I feel depressed. I'm doubting my choice of reception hall.

I feel depressed. I'm doubting my choice of reception hall.

I was looking online for reception halls for a while, long before I discovered LIWeddings and I couldn’t find any place that stood out to me. I actually given up on planning a wedding and was going to go to city hall. That’s when Coral House sent me a remarkable wedding quote in the mail, everything was beautiful. There was a wedding going on by the lake and I loved the Nantucket Deck and the Colonial Skylight. I have a thing for Vintage and the place has an old elegance feel to it, so I was like perfect place for my wedding theme. Now that I’m deep in to planning, I’m feeling frustrated and sad. Maybe I rushed in decision to book. I booked videographer, photographer and limo.

I wanted my dress to match the feel of the place and I can’t seem to find the dress. I’m so sick of looking at dresses.
Décor for the place. I don’t like the chair covers the Coral House offers, so now I have to find an outside vendor, no luck thus far.
I don’t even know where to begin with color scheme. The place has a lot of gold in it. I love gold, but adding more gold clashes.

I AM SO OVER THIS WEDDING PLANNING. If I didn’t start dishing out all this money already I would call the entire wedding off.

Thank you in advance for listening to me vent. Now I wanna cry.

Don't beat yourself up and it is perfectly normal to feel this way. I go through it at least once a week.

Everything will work out and before you go crazy spending money on additional stuff take a break from planning and then go back to see what the hall has to offer you for chair covers etc.. you may find something that didn't appeal to you before all of a sudden does now. We all need a break from this planning madness.

As for your dress stop planning it around the hall and start fresh with the dress shopping. Go for a dress that looks nice on you not the decor of you reception room. Keep smiling all will work out.

Aww maybe you are just overwhelmed by everything.

You picked your hall for a reason just remember why you picked it and everything should be fine

maybe you just need a break. wait for the new 2010 collections of the bridal gowns to come out. to be honest i dont see how a dress could match a room anyway. i think ur just making urself crazy. pick a dress that you like... not one you think will compliment your room.

there are plenty vendors for chair covers i am sure you will find some. for your color scheme add another color. maybe gold and ivory or gold and navy blue.

if your considering calling off the wedding bc of planning i would take a break... you have plenty of time. just relax for a lil bit... hth

i honestly think ur just feeling overwhelmed with the planning and all the small details that need attention.
u cant look for everything to match and have the same feel to it, try to come close, but dont kill urself in doing so. takes away from ur happiness and emotional sanity.

I feel the same way on daily basis. I doubt everything and anything. every decision I made, every vendor booked, my dress, date etc, etc, etc.
I saw some very great reviews about Coral House, so u have nothing to worry about (that's what I do when in doubt, read LIW reviews).
about the chair covers: is it possible not to have covers? I actually love those golden chairs all the halls use these days.

dress will come along when u least expect it, just dont give up. try what I did, just go with an open mind and try on a bunch of dresses the consultant will pull for u.

FM if u want to commiserate

Aww so sorry your stressing right now. But like everyone else said, don't worry we ALL go through it at some point. I know right after I booked my RH I had doubts too and was wondering if I made a mistake. I was upset. Like yourself I was in the beginning stages and it all was too much. I took a break from anything wedding related for about a month and then I was fine. After that I looooooooooved my place and wanted to kick myself for even doubting it. So don't worry this will pass. Just take a break and clear your head and then when you come back to it, it will all be better and fun again.

I needed chair covers as well b/c I hated mine and got a really good deal through Donna at TableWeAre...her number is 516-379-8467 if you're interested...she does beautiful work!

I think you need a breather! Take a break & clear your head-you have some time to do this.

we've all been there so don't worry. Take a breath, and go back to the coral house and you will see why you fell in love.

I have no advice on where to rent alternative chair covers, but sometimes its cheaper to rent pretty chairs instead.

As for Chair covers- Try the Finishing Touch in Hicksville. I have not gone there but i have seen some of the work they have done and i thought it was amazing.

Just step back and breathe. We all need to take a step back at some point. We are hard on ourselves, trying to get it ALL done. I've been to several weddings/events at CH and they were all great. You can use reds and certain shades of green to warm up the gold tones. They work well together. You have options...just one step at a time... we all get to this point...just keep coming to the boards and vent it out... it helps.

Re: I feel depressed. I'm doubting my choice of reception hall.

Thanks Ladies I think I may just have to take a mini vacation from the planning.

I love vintage and I want my dress to reflect vintage and a birdcage veil is a must for me. So its not so much I want my dress to match the place, but I just have this vision (which I think all us brides have of what we want). Sometimes it feels like this wedding is not coming together the way I want. The two designers I love so far are Demetrios and Maggie Sottero and with both of these designers you have to order 6-8 months in advance and that exclude time needed for alterations.

But it feels good to know that this will pass and its perfectly normal to be in this place.
