As you ladies know, i got into a car 'accident' last week the night before my first day as a sub , but thanks to my mother, i've been able to make all of my assignments (which have all been at the same school, she's so great!), well today, the AP of the same school calls me saying that she needs me to come in today...while my mother was driving me there, she texts me saying she doesn't need me for the day anymore, so I had to walk back home (I live in the city so it wasn't too bad)...when I get home, i get a call from subcentral offering me another job..the school was too far to walk and not near any public transportation so I had to decline..then I get a call from the school I usually sub at saying they need me again (they won't make up their mind!! )and I had to decline that too...so I missed out on a day's salary and i'm worried that it'll look bad that I declined both jobs..that was my first call from subcentral and I had to decline it...and i'm all ready and dressed but I can't go anywhere because I don't have my car.....and I have the beginnings of a throat infection
Please join my pity party, i'm really worried that it looks bad that I didn't take any jobs today...I'm just hoping I get a car soon and I didn't turn subcentral (or my school) off so that they won't want to call me anymore Ugggggh, i'm such a fool, I had to think quick and ended up making a bad decision so I feel like crap

Just an idea but can't you take a cab or a bus?? Subway? I know u said you are in the city.

The job that subcentral offered wasn't near any subways and i'd have to take 3 buses from where I was... I wouldn't have gotten there in time, they wanted me there in 20 mins...and when the school I usually go to called, they wanted me there in 15 minutes and it takes me an hour to get there...and I was already on my way there a half hour earlier! but maybe I should've still went to one of them even though I would've been late? Ugggh i'm just so frustrated and I just feel so unsure now..I hate when I feel anxious like this

In retrospect, I really should have done that But I think maybe deep down inside I already had my mind set on not going anywhere since I had to go back home...and I felt like crap because of my throat...but I really should've just went because on top of my throat killing me, i feel so anxious now, so I think I actually feel worse than I would have if I would've just ended up going...

Maybe you should call and apologize and explain the situation. Tell them them you don't want them to think you just didn't feel like coming in. SHOW them that there was a ligitimate reason behind why you declined.

Subcentral is automated, so I never spoke to an actual person...Do you mean I should call the school that I usually go to, the one that I was on my way too earlier this morning..

I don't think anything will happen since you declined both. I mean they wanted you within less than a half hour and you knew you would have been very late. I think it was smart what you did rather than showing up late.

I agree. I don't think it'll be held against you. They need subs .

They won't hold it against you. They always need subs and I'm sure they will call you again. Just let someone know about your situation at the school you normally go to. Maybe they can make arrangements to let you know far enough in advance so you can get there on time?
