I am out of options, I just graduated with my BA, I really want to teach Italian in private schools....that doesnt seem to be happening, so I settled for teaching anything in a private school (some elementary ones will hire you to teach as long as you have a degree even if its not in the subject ur teaching) That;s not happening, I keep hearing that schools are firing and not hiring. I can't do public yet bc I didnt do my student teaching and cant get certified yet ughh
anyway.....teaching seems to be a dead end for me right not so while I go for my masters I need to get a job doing anything, I'll do anything (well almost anything....no corners, poles etc. lol)
anyone know of anyplace that is hiring? offices, banks??? HELP

Re: I feel like complaining too tonight.....
thanks Mich. It's just so frustrating. Joe is hounding me to get a job which is starting to annoy me bc I feel pressured to hurry up and find something. I want to keep subbing to keep my foot in the door with a few schools but I need something that brings in $$ on a steady basis as well.

I have a suggestion if you speak Italian, but especially if you speak any other language . . . . court interpreter positions -- they call you when they need you and you can make a bundle. Do you speak Spanish too? Because that is in HIGH demand?
If that's not an option, don't worry, you will find something!!!

Re: I feel like complaining too tonight.....
I don't know if you are interested in subbing, but NYC is 154 dollars a day (you are covered by the union but do not get insurance coverage). I think as long as you are working towards certification you can do it. Sorry I can't be more of a help, but I hope something comes your way soon!

What about getting involved in a temp agency while you still search? Sometimes they pay pretty well.

Subbing is awesome. You make like $150 a day! And it's pretty easy too. I subbed before I got my full time job. I dont know how easy it is to get your foot in the door at LI schools but in Queens its so easy to get a subbing job every day. I highly recommend looking into it!

I sub right now in a few private schools which helps but I want something steady in addition so I have a paycheck coming for sure....
Jenny, I never sent the resume to your school bc from Whitestone, Queens to Bklyn I would have to take the LIE to the BQE and it would prob take me 2 hrs in the morning with rush hour traffic =(
Lisa....I'm willing to work in drs offices, law offices, any office....I worked for a lawyer for 2 yrs so I have experience, I have alot of office experience...I also worked for 3 years for an Italian import co. in manhattan....
anyone else have any suggestions or know anyone hiring?
