I forgot about the marriage part..........

I forgot about the marriage part..........

Someone brought up the other day, to remember that a wedding is about marriage and not just having a big party. I took that into consideration and realized I didnt even care about the marriage part I just want to have a big fat Greek Party, lol. While setting up florist appointments and deciding on the layers of our cakes, did anyone ever stop to think about the marriage part???

Re: I forgot about the marriage part..........

that's the only thing that kept me sane in all of the 2 yrs of planning i did. remembering that the wedding is just ONE day and that if we didn't prepare for the MARRIAGE, we'd be paying for a very expensive pre-divorce extravaganza!

i kind of feel sorry for ladies that just focus ONLY on the wedding and never take a second to remember that the marriage is the thing that lasts forever. (not saying that YOU are doing this, i'm just generalizing)

never forget, after the dance floor empties, and the decorations are taken down, the favors are given away, the cake is cut, and you've kissed the last person goodbye.....all that is left is a husband and wife....for the rest of your life!

The marriage part is totally a big part of what I am going through right now with compromising everything.... being able to give in when you really don't want to its hard... This is my first serious relationship so this is big for me

Ever since my one year mark, I have been feeling so down, I keep on thinking about my wedding, that I am getting married and Im going to be leaving my home and my parents and my sisters , its sad but happy at the same time bec I will be with the love of my life. Like yesterday at my bday party my parents were like next year we will be celebrating your bday at your new house , its hasnt sunk in yet I guess. But I really want to have a big party, I cant wait for that

No you are soooooooooo right, that was me, thinking about my reception only and not about the husband and wife part. The floor empties, the music is over, the cake is cut, the gown is taken off, the glass is cleaned up from the plate breaking, sorry I had to put that in there, Im kinda tearing about this.

awww---i know what you mean. i left home when i was 17 and was away for like 5 yrs on my own. then i moved back to NY at 22 , and was at my parents house again getting my sh*t together. (that was when i met DH)

when we started moving in like a month before the wedding, i had SUCH a mixture of happy/sad feelings. thinking 'this is the last time i wake up at my parents house on christmas morning, a single woman. i'll be at our house next year.' i did that alot and it felt so surreal, yet i was so damn excited to be starting my new life!

it will take some getting used to, but it'll eventually start to feel more real and good!

Yeah I am not rushing to do anything either, Fh and I are going away soon so wedding plans are going to come to a halt for a while, I would like to just think about other things.

omg i totally agree! i'm sure when we get our wedding video, you'll be able to see that when the officiant was about to say 'i now pronounce you husband and wife' i was kind of getting all giddy and whispering, 'here it comes, here it comes' THAT was the thing i couldn't wait for more than anything that day! i wanted to be able to start refering to him as my husabnd!

yeah i think about it alot. I was a person who didnt know 100% if i wanted to get married...but i also was in a long relationship and knew that love alone doesn't make a relationship work so i wanted to find someone who i truly loved and we worked well together, he was what i was looking for, respected me, and had a great friendship and comfortable relationship. I didn't know if i was ever gonna find it, so before i even thought about the party aspect of it i had to think about the marriage part
