I forgot about the marriage part..........

Someone brought up the other day, to remember that a wedding is about marriage and not just having a big party. I took that into consideration and realized I didnt even care about the marriage part I just want to have a big fat Greek Party, lol. While setting up florist appointments and deciding on the layers of our cakes, did anyone ever stop to think about the marriage part???

It's the complete opposite for me. I'm so excited about the church part---getting ready in the AM, arriving at the church in a limo that is playing 'here comes the bride', knowing that he is inside, waiting at the altar for me to arrive and take him as my husband, walking down the aisle, family watching, smiling and crying, the flower girl dropping petals, him seeing me for the first time and to hear the words, ' I now pronounce you husband and wife...you may kiss the bride'! That to me is ultimate happiness! The party will be fun, of course....but there wouldn't be a party if there wasn't a ceremony first! lol

yeah i am realistic about this...uhmmm it might be cute and fun to cook at first and do things for FH but lets get real you think over the years its fun, like you're gonna come home from work all tired saying YAY i get to cook dinner, oh and probably have kids then too, so gotta clean up after them, spend some time with them probably throw clothes in the laundry, and cook dinner. I dont know ANY married woman who years after marriage says OMG i cant wait to get home and cook tonight.

yeah thats true, I like how you put this, the church will be very exciting too and getting ready etc etc and I bet it will be very emotional, for me at least, to be the first out of my sisters to get married, I will be balling walking down the aisle and having all eyes on the bride

It's easier to focus on the reception more because that's what takes up most of the planning, but I always look forward to the ceremony more...that's the most meaningful and romantic part

i tried to talk FH AND my parents into just a very small, intimate wedding because to me, the important part is the church - like the last girl said...im most excited to be marrying him and starting our own life together. neither of them went for it! what the heck! i mean...i want the dress and the flowers and the music...i tried to tell my parents they could just give me the extra 25,000 for a house...but they want me to have a party. whatever! i suppose as long as i get to marry FH on that day, i will be happy.

omg i totally agree! i'm sure when we get our wedding video, you'll be able to see that when the officiant was about to say 'i now pronounce you husband and wife' i was kind of getting all giddy and whispering, 'here it comes, here it comes' THAT was the thing i couldn't wait for more than anything that day! i wanted to be able to start refering to him as my husabnd!

That is the cutest thing I have heard in a looong time Makes me wonder how I'm going to react.... Ever though I will be excited as hell... my nerves always get the best of me when I'm on 'display'... I'm gonna need some anxiety pills to deal.... LoL I'd be lucky if I didnt falling asleep by the end of the ceremony I can just imagine this huge cheesy grin on my face if I havent by then

i know what you mean, i am kinda on the opposite side of the spectrum where ive been obsessed with the marriage and uninterested in the party and details...But FH is very excited about having this great party and reception, and it is his dream wedding too so i have to compromise. LIW definitely has helped sparked my interest in wedding planning!

As for the marriage, we are trying to figure that stuff out now, i definitely wont cook and clean up after FH every night so we (actually I) are trying to figure out a way to split the chores, bills, and shopping responsibilities and figuring out how to communicate during stressful situations...I figure that by the time of the wedding we will at least having some marriage prep so that i can let myself by selfish for the party!

OMG!!! That is sooo adorable... I'm the same way... When FH proposed, I was smiling so much, my cheeks were hurtin And me and him rarely get good pics together cuz we act like retards when taking pics... Yours show emotion and prob make you feel like you're back in that moment every time u look at it ... Me & FH couldnt even take formal cruise ship pics ( we dont do well with directions lol ) so I can only imagine how stupid our wedding pics will come out

i remember tearing up the first time i saw your pictures ( bc you know, we are such close friends and all ) and i think it was bc you were such a happy bride

i hope i am like that too and just avoid the 'ugly cry' if at all possible!!

my mom did it with all three of us plus my cousins when they were over - heck! she STILL does it with no help ( not even from me, i am the worst) she is so amazing. . . how come it took me about 22 years to figure that out? lol

seriously though - my mom came home from a physically demanding job in a factory - cooked and cleaned and somehow i STILL felt like i had a SAHM! even tho my grandma was with us during hte day - i still feel like my mom raised me!

FH feels the same way about his mom!

I actually can't wait for the marriage part. I can honestly say that I am just so happy with FH and I can't wait for the rest of our lives although I am excited for a big party too!! I was looking at my friends wedding album today and I actually started to get teary eyed because she looked so happy on her wedding day. I can't wait to feel like that.

I think about that alot. There are alot of divorces in both of our families and alot of 'rushed' into weddings. So I am glad to be with him over 4 years and 6 when we are married. I am glad that before we started dating we were friends for 3 years. I want us to be sucessful in love with FH!
