Is it standard to stamp the RSVP envelopes for the guests? I planned on doing it but forgot...

I never got one without a stamp. Did you already mail them?

Re: I forgot~!
Please don't hate me for this, but i would probably unseal them and put stamps on the response envelopes. I hope other people disagree because I feel terrible telling you this, but that is truly what I would do. I'm sorry.

Re: I forgot~!
this is a tough one...I think I would also reopen them some how...steam...letter opener...and reseale with a sticker or something...you could also order more envelopes...
if you decide not to do this...expect that you will not get all of your rsvps back...

Re: I forgot~!NEED ADVICE...please
I say don't worry about it. $.37 never killed anybody.
Besides, if you try to undo them and then mess them up you'll be even more miserable. If anyone has the nerve to say anything about it then that would be pretty messed up. We all have enough other things on our minds that missing stamps should not cause the end of the world.

i would also say to reopen them. i would fear that most guests would just assume there was a stamp and send back to you - you don't want all your guests getting their RSVP back for insufficient postage.

Sorry- but I know its a pain but I think they should have stamps on them. I am sure most people would not complain about it, but like mentioned above some people may not send them back. JMO.

Re: I forgot~!NEED ADVICE...please
Ok, I guess that means paying $120 for new envelopes, and another $45 for new stamps..jeez this ****s. But, you're all probably right, I guess I just needed to know I wasn't just being anal. FH is freaking that we're wasting this money though. Not to mention, another $70 to get them readdressed...OMG, that's $335....

Re: I forgot~!NEED ADVICE...please
I wouldn't reopen them. The thought of having to do the restuffing and resealing all over again for me would be enough to say no and just drop them in the mail. I received an rsvp with no stamp once.. I noticed it, put my stamp on it and out it went. Its only 37 cents... Just so you know: even if you put a stamp on the rsvp envelope or not, you still won't get rsvp's returned to you on time or if at all. I don't think the stamp is what makes people respond. Its their laziness that makes them not respond.

Re: I forgot~!NEED ADVICE...please
although its etiquette to have them stamoed..i wouldnt go crazy over it. i certainly wouldnt think less of someone who forgot it (and i would assume they forgot it like you, and didnt do it purposely)...if you are concerned of what people may say, then do it., but most of my people would know me well enough not to think i meant anything wrong. if its in your budget do it. if not, spread the word that you slipped up and people may just smile it off.

Re: I forgot~!NEED ADVICE...please
I don't think its an issue of what people might say...but an issue of getting the rsvps back...
as brides we take notice to all things wedding related...but think of your FH's friends...and young cousins...etc...
they may not realize...or they may not have a stamp...and put it off...and put it off...
could you address the invites yourself? and try to salvage as many stamps as possible...even cut them off and then crazy glue them on the new envelope

Re: I forgot~!NEED ADVICE...please
I know it sounds crazy but, if they aren't fully sealed, try to side a stamp in the side-flapl opening. This way you are providing the stamp. I wouldn't re-open all those envelopes unless you have enough outer envelopes to re-print everything again or have the time and money to send them out to be reprinted again.

Re: I forgot~!NEED ADVICE...please
I agree with everyone else, in opening them and stamping then resealing.
I only say that because like it was mentioned guests already think their is a stamp on it, fill out the rsvp then send them back. I know I never look for a stamp because I just figure its already on their. As soon as I get the invite I usually just open it at the mailbox, respond, then go right to the corner and mail it.
Try and open it at the bottom and do it slowly, then reseal them with a little bit of a clear glue from the stick and a pretty sticker. some people will not notice because they are too excited (or I usually am) and just rip it open.

I would steam those babies open, It's a pain, but I would worry that people would take even MORE time to respond then. JMO

Re: I forgot~!NEED ADVICE...please
There's this stuff called Un-Do which removes the sticky stuff off of pictures that might work on the envelopes. You would have to us some sort of glue to reseal them. Michaels should have it in the scrapbook section.
I am pretty sure it works on paper with out warping it but not 100% sure but maybe it's worth a shot if you are looking at reordering envelopes.

Re: I forgot~!NEED ADVICE...please
UPDATE
I reordered...I tried to open them myself but it made them look a little crinkled, I tried steam but the return addresses are on the back flap and it made them look smudged. The envelopes were sealed but not stamped, so I didn't waste stamps. Oh well, at least I don't have to stand in front of a steaming pot of water all night...but I'm out some serious cash..
FH suggests making thank yous that will fit in the opened ones, or xmas cards. I might. I'm an environmental nut (total tree hugger and proud of it ), so I WILL find a use for them.
