I found a cell phone tonight in an Applebee's parking lot...

what to do with it???

I picked it up
should I return it? or make some calls (FREE)

leave it on and hope the owner calls so you can make arrangements to return it.

my dad lost his cell phone once, and no one was nice enough to answer it when he called and it really pi$$ed me off because he had it specially ordered with a hearing piece in it....(he has a hearing aid as well)
if someone had done the right thing, my dad would not have had to spend another $175 to buy a new one!

I'd leave it on or scroll through the address list for something like 'home' or mom & dad and give them a call & say you found a cellphone (well that would be the nice thing to do).

I agree with MrsERod. Leave it on, the person who lost it will probably call and then you can return it. I really wish someone had done that when I lost mine.

If you haven't heard from the person and the battery starts to die, look the phone book for 'home' or something like that and call that number.

Turn it off and then turn it on again to see if the number pops up. Then call it and leave a voicemail to the person who owns the phone. Maybe they will check their voicemail and will call you to get their phone.

I agree as well. I probably wouldve returned it right away, however, since you still have it, definitley go thru the address book and look for 'home' or 'mom & dad' and call them. Let them know you have it. Do not make free calls, im sorry but thats not right!
I found a pocket book in the laundromat parking lot a few weeks ago. I picked it up, opened it, and saw all this girls stuff in it. I was walking into the laundromat to return it and a girl came flying in the parking lot, upset, I said 'This must be yours' and she thanked me a zillion times. I saw her leaving like 15 mins. before that with a ton of laundry so she easily dropped it.
Please let us know what happens.

I agree, I think this is what you should do.

Me too. My brother lives in Philly and lost his lately and someone called my Mom, listed as Mom...It was great--she then called him and he arranged to pick it up.

everytime i find a phone i leave it on for if they call me, and i answer it. even if its not them theyll let the person know you ahve it.
i also look through tehir phonebook and will call someone on it usually.... but i try to find a number like 'home' if possible.
thats a good idea to leave a voicemail too. theres usually a way to find the number under 'phone status' or something like that.

i found many a phone in my days

lost my cell phone once in a cab inthe city.. a nice guy picked it up, scrolled to dad and called my dad. they arranged to meet in the city and my dad picked it up for me...

I would return it like i said earlier on aim! i lost my cell two and a three years ago and no one returned it than i had to get a new cell phone and thank god i have not lost this one! aug. i get a new one its two years that i had this phone and have not lost it**knocking on wood**

Sounds good. If you meet before hand, meet @ a public place, or just make it easy, and go back to Applebees to meet.

I would leave it on and call someone from their address book that can contact the owner and let them know your phone number to make arrangements to pick it up. I thought I lost my phone once and it is not a good feeling to think some nasty stranger may have it that might not return it or might run up the bill . . .

yes definitely a good idea to call 'home', 'mom' or 'dad', when i lost my cell phone in macys, the cashier called my house, mom and dad! i was going crazy lookin for it because i had no clue where i left it!
