So, I was informed that UPS has an internal policy that requires signatures for any package that they deliver...makes sense, I guess. So, if this is the case, why do they insist on delivering packages between 2 and 5, Monday through Friday!!!! Some of us do work! Someone bought something off my registry , but it is now sitting at their facility since no one was home to sign for the package! Fine...so I figured that I would go today to the facility in Farmingville (even though I live In the Hamptons) to pick it up...NOPE, they are closed! Their hours: Mon-Fri 8:30-6! HELLO UPS!!! Some of us work! And then I figured I could sent FH, but of course not, since they need my license.
So now, my only option is to have everything sent to FMIL...thrilling! I can't have it go to my office because my office is in a courthouse and security guards don't care how much I want a crystal bowl from my registry delivered! FH is not home during those hours and cannot be bound by UPS's time windows! UGH!
Sorry, now I feel better...I will go in the next day or so (since they give you 5 days), but those f@ckers are carrying the 16 pound box to my car!

Re: I Freaking Hate UPS!!!
We have our signature on file with UPS, so they leave packages at our door. Maybe there is an easy way you can do this.

How did you do that! That would be a great idea!

It was a long time ago but I think we went to the UPS building and did it. Maybe there is something you can sign and mail in.

Re: I Freaking Hate UPS!!!
I found this on the UPS site:
I will not be available to receive my shipment when UPS returns. What are my options?
There are several delivery options available for consignees. First, look closely at the UPS InfoNotice to see if any instructional boxes are checked. Depending on the requirements of the shipper, you may be able to sign the back of the UPS InfoNotice authorizing the driver to leave your shipment. Or, in the comments section of the note, you may write another address where the driver should take the shipment for delivery.
You may also choose other delivery options using UPS.com. Select the Tracking tab, enter your 12-digit InfoNotice number, and select the Track button. In the Package Progress section, select the link to Choose Another Delivery Option. Select one of the following options:
Will Call Delivery to Another Address Reschedule Delivery Return to Sender.
Is there a spot to sign and leave the notice for the driver?

It actually requires signature in person

Oh no! Maybe you can contact the place where you have your registry and ask them to change it so UPS does not need one.

Re: I Freaking Hate UPS!!!
it won't help with the one package, but at least it can help for the rest and you don't have to go through this again!

Re: I Freaking Hate UPS!!!
Change the shipping address on your registry to your office if you can, this is what I did and my ILs send everything to me at work. If not see if FH can have it shipped to him at work.

Re: I Freaking Hate UPS!!!
When i get the 'signature' required thing I will leave a post it note on the door saying 'UPS...you have permission to leave the package...and then sign it' that has worked.....i love my UPS driver(wonder if it's the same as yours)...he is so sweet and will leave stuff on the side door instead of on the front step! another option is to get a mailbox at the UPS store in town & have everything shipped there??? maybe???

I've done this many times, and they actaully take the note as proof, and leave it!

Re: I Freaking Hate UPS!!!
did them leave a post-it on your door saying that you could just sign the post-it and allow them to re-try and give them permision to drop the package off even if you're not home? I can't rememeber if UPS does that or it's FedEx

Re: I Freaking Hate UPS!!!
I guess they need to talk to my UPS driver then...he rings the bell and is gone before we can even get to the door!!
You should be able to leave a note on your door if you know they are coming that says it is okay for them to leave it with your signature. I work for FedEx Freight and we allow our customers to do that.

Re: I Freaking Hate UPS!!!
I thought you are able to call and have them redirect it to another address. Ask them if that is possible.
