i was beat with a wooden spoon and a broom almost daily and i am normal - i say GO FOR IT!

i can relate - my mother is a sick woman. She wouldn't cut my hair so it was past my behind almost my whole childhood. And every night and every morning she would sit in the bathroom and try to brush out my hair as i cried and cried LOL

ETA: I used to get hit with a big fat belt (which didn't hurt by the way hahaha) and then my mom resorted to slippers...and then she just couldn't catch me anymore. She would wack me across the head if I was nearby though...oh GOD that used to P I S S me off !

My father used to tell me to stick out my hand so he could smack it.

Then I got smart. Started pulling it away and he would hit the table instead.

my parents were very fond of the 'hair pull' - i still accuse my mom of putting my hair in pony tails everyday just so she had something to grab me by!

I second that Amen!! Kids are such spoiled brats these days... when I was little and we were out somewhere, if I acted up, my mother gave me this look and I just KNEW once we got home it was over. LOL a good whack every now and again (when deserved) is not child abuse, it's teaching your kids that they can't do whatever they want, whenever they want!

I got the wooden spoon combined with my mother shoving her hand in her mouth while she yelled. Some Italian thing she always said. I also got hit with my father's leather belt.

I like to think I am somewhat normal. I have no idea if I will hit my kids. I am sure it will happen at one point.
