it says recently i was forwarded a letter from the scpd in connection witha convicted sex offender living within the incorporated village of Lake grove.
they show a picture of the guy and information sheet with details about him! he is a level 2 offender how scary is this! i guess your never safe. and this is for all villagers of lake grove.

It's sickening that he is living in your area, but I have to actually commend the state for keeping such thorough records, for once.
I appreciate knowing that there is a registered sex offender in my area, and would be even more appreciative if the state informed me before I looked it up myself on the website. Stay safe Roseann!!!

I believe the notices are sent out after a convicted sex offender has been released from prison and settles in a neighborhood. In his defense, he served his time and truly may be reformed. There are a lot more criminals running around out there--this is one that paid his dues in jail already.

They send it when an offender moves into the neighborhood. They have to check in and register with the local P.D.

Yes, Beth is 100% right.
You receive the paper when he moves into your area. Some of them are required to register for life, some only have to register for a certain # of years, but they all have to register every 90 days, so the state knows exactly where they are at all times. If a sex crime occurs in that area, you better believe that those registered names/prints/photos are run first.
It is also on a website..I can't remember it right now, but I check it from time to time, just to see whats new in my area.

I know and i respect that! but it did put a scare in me. yeah the website is www.lakegroveny.gov for me. but it under contruction.
